Atwell, Ethel, 75

Ethel Mae Atwell, daughter of Clyde L. and Winnifred J. Spencer Lane, was born November 20, 1920, in Dixon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, two months and five days.
On May 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Floyd T. Atwell, and to this union five daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; two daughters, Mary Louise Atwell, and Linda Carol Brakee; a granddaughter, Amanda Lux; and a sister, Helen Lane.
Ethel is survived by three daughters, Gloria McCombs, and her husband, Harold Victor, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Theresa Tracy, and her companion, Roy Mount, of Columbia, Missouri, and Patti Dickinson, and her husband, Jeff, of Willard, Missouri; a son, Dan Atwell, and his wife, Diane, of Osage Beach, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Lane, and his wife, Vergie, of Crocker, Missouri, James Lane, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ralph Rook, and his wife, Judy, of Jellico, Tennessee, as well as a host of other relative and many good friends.
She was raised in the Dixon, Missouri area and attended school there. After her marriage to Floyd, they moved to Michigan and began their family. In 1953, they moved to Iberia, Missouri, where they lovingly raised their children. In 1970, they moved to Linn Creek, Missouri. Ethel worked as a seamstress and outfitter for Ft. Leonard Wood for many years.
Ethel was a member of the Iberia V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Richland American Legion Auxiliary, the Linn Creek Rebekah Lodge #464; the National Association of Government Employees, and TOPS of Camdenton.
Ethel was baptized in the 1940’s and became a member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Dixon. She later attended the Iberia Church of the Nazarene. After moving to Linn Creek, she became a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church. She was currently attending the Freedom Church of Christ.
In her free time, Ethel enjoyed quilting, attending TOPS meetings, and growing flowers. She had enjoyed attended the Missouri State Fair each year for the last twenty-five years. She had made many close friends throughout the years and always kept in touch with them. She loved people and did many self-less acts throughout her lifetime.
Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a loving and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Atwell-Tyler Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m.under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.

 

Best, Christopher, Lance Cpl., 20

Christopher Brian Best, son of David Vernon and Pheobe Marlene Cook Best, was born November 14, 1985, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Poway, California, at the age of twenty years, one month, and twenty-one days.
On December 11, 2004, he was united in marriage to April Dawn Butcher, and to this union twin sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Frank Cook, and Carl Hicks; his paternal grandparents, Perry C. and Evelyn L. Best; his maternal uncle, Monroe Kevin Cook; his paternal aunt, Patricia (Best) Cook; and his paternal uncles, Ralph and Dennis Best.
Christopher is survived by his wife, April, of the home; his twin sons, Christopher Brian Best, Jr. and David Lloyd Best, of the home; a daughter, Alyssa Rose McIntosh, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; his mother, Pheobe M. Best, of Drury, Missouri; his father, David V. Best, of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, Gregory L. Best, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and William R. Best, of Mansfield, Missouri; two sisters, Marie Moore, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Julie Anne Giffin, of Seymour, Missouri; his maternal grandmother, Patsy Hicks, of Mansfield, Missouri; his great-grandmother, Lucielle Cantrell, of Seymour, Missouri; his maternal aunts and uncles, Sam and Carol Cook, Eric and Martha Cook, Wendell and Pat Cook, Lonnie and Deb Allen, and Carl and Cathy Cook; his paternal aunts and uncles, William P. and Betty Best, Robert and Lou Best, John L. Best, Richard and Linda Best, John and Lori Miller, and Donald and Linda Best; several nieces and nephews; a number of cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Springfield and was raised in Arkansas before his family moved to Mansfield, Missouri, and he attended the Mansfield Schools. He then joined the United States Marine Corps on August 17, 2004 and was faithfully serving his country as a LAV Crewman at the time of his death.
While in his teens he was involved in the Sporting Chance program and played football and baseball, and was a member of the J.R.O.T.C. in Mountain Grove.
Christopher was a member of the Church of Christ, and attended the Mansfield Church of Christ.
In his spare time he enjoyed collecting eagles. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time with them.
Christopher was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, uncle, and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Hensley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri

 

Beyer, Dorothy, 69

Dorothy Roberta Beyer, daughter of George and Dorothy Reutter McCleary, was born November 30, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She departed this life Tuesday, January 10, 2006, in her home, near Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, one month, and ten days.
On June 29, 1957, in Trappe, Pennsylvania, she was united in marriage to Wesley Landes Beyer, and to this union three daughters and three sons were born.
Her parents, and a brother, Robert McCleary, preceded her in death.
“Dottie”, as she was affectionately called, is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Wesley; her children, Cheryl Lynn Dockray, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Mark Wesley Beyer, and his wife, Natalie Joy, of Franklin, Tennessee, Dale Christian Beyer, and his wife, Anita, of Warsaw, Missouri, Natalie Renee Kauffman, and her husband, Elden, of Gunn City, Missouri, Linda Grace Warford, and her husband, Lee, of Pattonsburg, Missouri, and Christopher Joel Beyer, and his wife, Jennifer, of Joplin, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Grace Shah, of Princeton, New Jersey; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Trappe, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Collegeville-Trappe High School in the Class of 1954. After she and Wesley were married, they made their home in Pennsylvania and lovingly began raising their family. In 1962, the family moved to Elkhead, Missouri, and then to Camdenton, Missouri in 1973. It was a lifelong dream of Dottie’s to become a nurse, so after her youngest child was in school, she entered St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri, and earned her Registered Nursing Degree in 1979. While continuing to be a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Dottie worked at the Lake Ozark General Hospital, now Lake Regional Health Systems, from 1979 until retiring in 1999.
Dottie was a member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church.
Her faith and family were her top priorities. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and most of her time and energies were spent in these areas. She enjoyed traveling to see her family as well as hosting “The Gang” in her home. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, Cardinal baseball and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Dottie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Camdenton United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow the service. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.

Bohrer, Mary Leona, 98

Mary Leona Bohrer, the only child of John Cornelus and Cora Lee Crim Schmidt, was born October 7, 1907, near Monroe City, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, January 28, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-eight years, three months, and twenty-one days.
On March 29, 1931, she was united in marriage to Omer L. Bohrer, and to this union one son was born.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Leona is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John E. “Jack” and Fran Bohrer, of Lakeland, Florida; two granddaughters, Dr. Barbara Lutz, and her husband, Brian, of McDonough, Georgia, and Betsy Weatherby, of Lakeland, Florida; a grandson, Robert Bohrer, and his wife, Sharon, of Berkley Heights, New Jersey; seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised on her parent’s farm in Monroe County, Missouri. She attended a one-room rural school through the eighth grade and then graduated as class valedictorian from Monroe City High School. After attending summer school in Kirksville, she earned her County Teachers Certificate and taught all grades in a one-room rural school for a year. She then attended Kirksville State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught one year in the Kirksville Public School System. During this time Leona met Omer and upon his graduation from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, they were married and came to Lebanon in 1931. Here the couple made their home, established his practice, and lovingly raised their son.
Upon moving to Lebanon, Leona and Omer placed their membership in the First Christian Church where they were always very active and supportive members.
She loved Lebanon and felt the warmth of the people, and enthusiastically served in her community for as long as she was able. She was a member of the Lebanon Study Club, the Lebanon Women’s Club, served as the first secretary of Lebanon’s first Library Board, and was a charter member of Chapter HS of P.E.O. Throughout the years, her main interest was her home and her family.
Leona was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006, in the First Christian Church, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial to the First Christian Church has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.

 

 

Calhoun, Manie, 89

Manie Calhoun, son of Jim and Essie Curtis Calhoun, was born February 18, 1916, in Wright County, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, January 21, 2006, in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months, and three days.
On December 24, 1939, he was united in marriage to Oka Helsley, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oka, on December 11, 2002; a sister, Tressie Mallory; and a half-brother, Amos Curtis.
Manie is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Young, and her husband, Paul, of Rogersville, Missouri; a son, Curt Calhoun, and his wife, Connie, of Mansfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, David Young, and his wife, Lisa, of Rogersville, Missouri, Mike Young, and his wife, Christina, of Marshfield, Missouri, Jim Young, and his wife, Kelly, of Nixa, Missouri, Rhonda Widhalm, and her husband, Duane, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Matt Calhoun, and his wife, Shawnette, of Mansfield, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Benton, of Jerome, Idaho, and Mildred Mallory, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother-in-law, R. E. Helsley, and his wife, Rose, of Mansfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Dorothy McGaw, of Mansfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his entire life in and around Mansfield, Missouri, and was an auto mechanic by trade. He was a people person and loved spending time with his friends. For many years he went daily to the restaurant to be with his good friends.
Manie was saved early in his life at the New Hope Baptist Church. He possessed a heart of gold, and always put the needs of others ahead of his own.
The last few weeks of his life were spent in the hospital and nursing home. Those that took care of him always said they never saw a more kind and caring person.
Manie loved his family very much, as they all loved him, and as long as they live, he will live on through them.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions to Wolf Creek Building Fund may be made through the funeral home.

 

Carter, Charles F., Sr., 53

Charles Franklin Carter, Sr., son of Ralph Eugene and Mary Lou Dudley Carter, was born October 31, 1952, in Marshfield, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 27, 2006, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-three years, two months, and twenty-six days.
On October 25, 1982, he was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Higgins, and together they shared the last twenty-three years.
His parents preceded him in death.
Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; a son, Charles F. Carter, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Sherry Carter, Rebecca Holmes, and her husband, Levi, and Tonya Blackburn, all of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren; four brothers, John Carney, Jimmy, Perry, and Robert Carter, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Blankenship, of Grovespring, Missouri, and Marie Miller, of Evansville, Indiana; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and lived most of his life in the Lebanon area. After he and Nancy were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. Early in his life, Charles worked at a sawmill for a few years, and then worked at Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon for a number of years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where one of his favorite activities was fishing. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Coping Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 - 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home. Cassy, William Ray "Bill", 58

William Ray Cassy, son of Arthur Ray and Emma Louise LaFollette Cassy, was born October 5, 1947, in Walnut Shade, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, January 28, 2006, in his home, in Ava, Missouri, at the age of fifty-eight years, three months, and twenty-three days.
On October 8, 1976, he was united in marriage to Jean Marie Brown, and together they shared the last twenty-nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his fourteen-year-old son, Christopher Lloyd Cassy in 1992; and a sister, Aleta Sue Langston.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie, of the home; two sons, Shane Cassy, of the home, and William Ray Cassy, Jr., and his wife, Michele, of Jones, Alabama; two stepsons, Michael Watkins, and his companion, Erin, of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Joshua Watkins, and his companion, Tammy, of Leeton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Justine, Melissa, Christopher, Lisa, Miranda, Zach, Dakota, and Angelique; four sisters, Debra Henry, and her companion, Randy Caudill, of Springfield, Missouri, Connie West, and her husband, Gene, and Edith Moore, all of Ozark, Missouri, and Joyce Perrin, and her husband, Bobby, of Mansfield, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Danny Langston, of Grovespring, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Bill was raised in the Seymour community and graduated with honors from the Seymour High School in the Class of 1965. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Army, and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War. Upon completing his military service, he made his home in Florida for many years, where he worked as the night manager of a bowling center. He then was employed as a water tower painter in the Midwest and southern states. He later worked as a rough and finishing carpenter. He moved his family back to Ava, Missouri about two years ago after he became disabled.
Bill had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith throughout his life.
In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Services will be ehld at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.

 

Corbin, Alveta Faye, 60

Alveta Faye Corbin, daughter of Belfie Mack and Georgia Alberta Perryman Williams, was born September 26, 1945, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, January 26, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty years, and four months.
On July 15, 1960, she was united in marriage to James H. Corbin, Sr., and to this union four sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Harold Gene Corbin; two brothers, Lester and Junior Williams; and three sisters, Eunice Jennings, Sue Gregory, and an infant.
Faye is survived by her husband, James, of the home; three sons, James H. Corbin, Jr., of the State of Florida, Richard M. Corbin, and Jeffrey L. Corbin, both of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jason Williams, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Ima Jean Hawkins, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Verba Weaver, of Marshfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and attended Lebanon High School. After she and James were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their sons. Besides being a devoted and hardworking homemaker, Faye also worked as a waitress for several years, and then was employed by the H. D. Lee Company. For the last seventeen years, she and James had made their home in Springfield.
Faye had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the Pentecostal faith.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and doing various kinds of craft projects. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006, in the Little Vine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.

 

Curtis, Amos Eugene, 100

Amos Eugene Curtis, departed this life Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Woodland Manor Care Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of one hundred years, four months and twenty days.
On October 11, 1931 he was united in marriage to Iva Emmerson, and to this union a daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Essie and Jim Calhoun; his wife, Iva, on September 24, 2003; and a half-sister, Tressie Mallory.
Amos is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Harley Blevins, of Springfield; a grandson, Stacy Blevins, and his wife, Mary, of Sauk City, Wisconsin; a half brother, Manie Calhoun, Mansfield; two half-sisters, Mildred Mallory, of Seymour, and Minnie Benton, of Jerome, Idaho; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Wright County and resided there throughout most of his life. He worked in California in the orange groves for a few years and then returned home.
After he and Iva were married, they moved to Idaho for five years where he worked on ranches. When they returned to Wright County, they purchased their farm in the St. George community, where they lived the rest of their lives.
Amos had professed his faith in Christ, and was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove (Cope) Freewill Baptist Church. He and Iva were very devoted to the church, always ready to have the building opened and prepared for services. He had also served on the cemetery board for many years.
He was a very dependable individual who centered his life around his family, the church, and the operation of the farm. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially playing Wahoo. In his spare time he also enjoyed going fishing.
Amos was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.

 

Daniel, Nancy, 66

Nancy Revaun Daniel, daughter of William Hubert and Elizabeth Hughes Mizer, was born July 30, 1939, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, January 22, 2006, in her son’s home, near Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, five months, and twenty-two days.
On December 22, 1981, in Springfield, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Charles Joseph Daniel, who passed away on February 21, 1989.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Sammy Ray Glendenning, and George Mizer.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Brian Flanary, and his wife, Toni, of Eldridge, Missouri, and Steven Flanary, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, William, Jesse, Julia, and Abby; two brothers, Bill Mizer, and his wife, Kathy, of St. Robert, Missouri, and Jack Glendenning, and his wife, Jane, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Jill Ivey, and her husband, Tom, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Avis Mizer, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Laclede County and lived most of her life in the Lebanon area. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also worked as a waitress throughout the years.
Nancy had attended services at various different churches including Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she liked being outdoors where her favorite activity was camping. She enjoyed caring for her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked visiting with her many friends.

Eddleman, Perry, Jr., 75

Perry Eddleman, Jr., son of Perry Eddleman, Sr. and Myrtle A. Burgess Eddleman, was born November 12, 1930, near Newburg, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 6, 2006, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, one month, and twenty-four days.
On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Artie R. Copling, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
Perry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Artie, of the home; two daughters, Joyce Waterman, and her husband, Monte, and Melody Hawkins, and her husband, Lionel, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Gary Eddleman, and his wife, Carla, of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Eddleman, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Marlene Gollahon, and her husband, Dean, of Overton, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Phelps County, Missouri. After he and Artie were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their family. For many years, Perry worked as a heavy equipment operator and also was a truck driver and a mechanic.
He liked music and was a talented steel guitar player, having played with several area bands. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting. In his later years he liked caring for his home and his yard. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Perry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Fisher, Sarah, 83

Sarah Frances Fisher, daughter of James Wiley and Frances Lodema Warner Latimer, was born June 19, 1922, near Conway, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, January 20, 2006, in Citizens Memorial Hospital, in Bolivar, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, seven months, and one day.
On May 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to George W. Fisher, and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on August 30, 1986; and a son, Francis Warren Fisher, on September 9, 1957.
Sarah is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Helen Fisher, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amy Fisher, and her fiancé, Sean Fleming, of Springfield, Missouri, Justin and Nathan Fisher, both of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a brother, James Latimer, of Conway, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Conway community. After she and George were married, they made their home on their farm near Phillipsburg, and lovingly raised their son. Throughout the years, Sarah was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her family and also helped in the operation of their farm.
Sarah was a member of the Conway United Methodist Church and had attended the Phillipsburg Christian Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, tatting, and crocheting. She also liked growing beautiful flowers, particularly her favorite roses and iris. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed having her family around her.
Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Ginnings, Janice, 62

Janice Faye Ginnings, daughter of Troy Richard and Roma Waterman Mosier, was born June 10, 1943, in Eldridge, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, January 2, 2006, in her home, near Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, six months, and twenty-two days.
On June 9, 1967, she was united in marriage to Joe D. Ginnings, and to this union one daughter was born.
Her parents, and a brother, Billy Gene Mosier, preceded her in death.
Janice is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; a daughter, Roma F. Lucas, and her husband, Daren, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandsons, Brandon and Tyler; a brother, Tommy Mosier, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Janie Weber, and her husband, LeRoy, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Eldridge community and went to Eldridge Elementary School until 9th grade, then attended Lebanon RIII Schools. After she and Joe were married, they made their home in the Eldridge area and lovingly raised their daughter. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Janice worked for the H. D. Lee Company for several years, and then had been employed by the Shepherd Hills Factory Outlet Store.
Janice had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended Trinity Full Gospel Church in Eldridge.
In her spare time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and liked visiting with her friends and neighbors. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed both his movies and his music. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandsons.
Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Grim, Mary Ann, 77

Mary Ann Grim, daughter of Cless Clu and Mary Marie (Farris) Davidson, was born July 27, 1928, in Mexico, Missouri. She departed this life January 5, 2006, in Texas County Memorial Hospital, in Houston, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, five months and eight days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lynn Wring; and two sisters, Lola Pearl and Lora Mae Davidson.
Mary is survived by her nine children, Gene Wring, and wife, Debbie, of Kebil, KY., Billy Wring, and wife, Janice, of Paducah, KY., Chuck Wring, and wife, JoAnne, of Paducah, KY., Kathy Hayes, of Oscar, KY., Johnny Wring, and wife, Patricia, of Paducah, KY., Linda Rodgers, and husband, Donnie, of West Paducah, KY., Joy Friedman, of West Paducah, KY., Bobby Wring, of Success, MO., and Debbi Mings, and husband, Chuck, of Success, MO.; twenty-five grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and was greatly anticipating the arrival of three more; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Born in the Mexico, Missouri area, all of her childhood was spent there. She later resided in St. Louis and Paducah, KY. In 1956 Mary moved to the Missouri Ozarks, where she continued to live throughout her life. She had worked as a Nurse’s Aid at Breech Medical Center, in Lebanon, and Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, as well as being a homemaker.
Mary had professed her faith in Christ, and loved to study her bible. She had attended the Northside Church of God, in Paducah, and the Fairview Church, in Ben Davis. She was the pastor of the Prittchet Church, near Stoutland, for one year. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a musically inclined individual, who played the mandolin and wrote poems and songs. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing.
Mary was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt; and was a kind neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery, near Conway, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.

 

Howe, Bethel M., 87

Bethel Marie Howe, daughter of Frank M. and Mary Viola Hooper Ware, was born June 6, 1918, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, January 14, 2006, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months, and eight days.
On March 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dorsey M. Howe and together they shared thirty-nine years before his passing on July 27, 1988.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Hesker; a daughter, Carol Jane Howe; a son, Leland Stanley Howe; three brothers, Raymond, John, and Oscar Ware; and five sisters, Mayme Ware, Alma Kathner, Chloe Turner, Lilly Winfrey, and Rissie Frye.
Bethel is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Jo Middleton, of Springfield, Missouri, and Gerry Hoke, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janie Howe, of Polo, Missouri, and Kenneth and Valerie Howe, of Lebanon, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Blackfoot community, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1939. After she and Dorsey were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. She began working at the Holman Funeral Home in 1950, immediately after she and Dorsey were married. Dorsey had been employed by the funeral home since 1939, and assumed full ownership in 1955. Through the years the company expanded, encompassing Wright, Webster, and Camden Counties in Missouri.
Bethel was a longtime active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. She served as Sunday school teacher, worked in Vacation Bible School, and was director of the G.A.’s for many years. She also directed several Christmas programs and attended Hilltoppers.
While her children were in school she had been President of the Hillcrest Elementary School P.T.A. for two terms. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, and growing beautiful flowers. Her family was always her top priority and one of her greatest joys was preparing a large meal each week for her entire family.
Bethel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a thoughtful and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish our memories of her for the rest of our lives.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, near Long Lane, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established for St. John's Lebanon Heritage Foundation and contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Jordan, Arlis Efton, 77

Arlis Efton Jordan, son of Oscar Thomas and Opha Ellen Hightower Jordan, was born February 6, 1928, near Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 20, 2006, in Hill Crest Manor, in Hamilton, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, eleven months, and fourteen days.
On January 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Dolly Eileen Clark and to this union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Amanda Eileen, and Megan Brianne Jordan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Johnnie Wisdom.
Arlis is survived by his wife, Dolly, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Cindy Jordan, of Hamilton, Missouri; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jordan; a grandson, David Jordan; three brothers, Carlos Jordan, and his wife, Ferrell, of Hartville, Missouri, Jerry Jordan, of Gladstone, Missouri, and Larry Jordan, and his wife, Cindy, of Polo, Missouri; two sisters, Ruby Robertson, and her husband, Gerald, of Niangua, Missouri, and Rowena Strode, and her husband, Phil, of Kearney, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Herbert Clark, of Hartville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Sue Robertson, and her husband, Darrell, of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Hartville community. After he and Dolly were married, they made their home in Kearney, Missouri, and lovingly raised their son. He was a very hardworking man, and was employed by Goldblatt Tool Company in Kansas City, Kansas for many years.
Arlis made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized on March 14, 1947. He was a member of the Durbin Church, now known as Elk Creek Baptist Church.
He greatly enjoyed the outdoors where his favorite activity was hunting and being with his hunting buddies. He loved the Black Jack Hollar area and always wished to come back to that area, where he spent so many happy hours with his dog, “Old Drum”. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Arlis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Lynch, Vivian, 57

Vivian Louise Lynch, daughter of Coy and Jewell Smith Carter, was born September 8, 1948, in Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, January 3, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-seven years, three months, and twenty-five days.
On April 20, 1984, she was united in marriage to Jimmy D. Lynch, and together they shared the last twenty-one years.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, James Curtis Kirkland Jr.; and two granddaughters, Jayme Nicole Kabage, and Katarina McDonald.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Jimmy, of the home; four daughters, Karen Moody, and her husband, Kenny, of Forsyth, Missouri, Lisa Patterson, and her husband, Paul, of Topeka, Kansas, Jackie Kabage, and her husband, Jamey, of Mansfield, Missouri, and April McDonald, and her fiancée, James Wood, of Vanleer, Tennessee; two sons, Jonathan Lynch, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Travis Lynch, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; her mother, Jewell Carter, of Mansfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Ke-Shia, Ryan, Johnny, Shane, Chad, James, Samantha, Tyler, and Cameron; four brothers, Marshall Carter, and his wife, Judy, of Independence, Missouri, John Carter, and his wife, Sarah, Rex Carter, and his wife, Kathy, and Ronnie Carter, and his wife, Sandy, all of Mansfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised near Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School. She had worked at various jobs but spent most of her adult life lovingly raising her family.
Vivian was of the Baptist faith. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved family gatherings, barbeques, and camping.
Vivian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the memories she made for her family and friends.

McWilliams, Robert Lee, 84

Robert Lee McWilliams, son of Ray Wesley and Elizabeth Ables McWilliams, was born November 14, 1921, in Riverside, California. He departed this life Thursday, January 5, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, one month, and twenty-one days.
On October 5, 1948, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Annemarie Schenck, and to this union one daughter and five sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gregory McWilliams, in 1982, and James McWilliams, in 1992; and a sister, Doris Hicks.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Charlotte, of the home; a daughter, Colleen Wagner, and her husband, Charles, of Fordland, Missouri; three sons, Michael McWilliams, and his wife, Lorin, of Strafford, Missouri, Patrick McWilliams, and his wife, Molly, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kelly McWilliams, and his wife, Deanna, of Diggins, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Melissa, Megan, Gregory, Jeffery, Danny, Tim, Kathleen, Megan, Crystal, Samantha, Willie, Wesley, David, and Robert; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Sophia, Eden, and Rheanna; two brothers, Carl McWilliams, and his wife, Doris, of the State of Montana, and Earl McWilliams, of Caliente, Nevada; three sisters, Louise Kauffman, and her husband, Bill, of Bullhead, Arizona, Jean Rizzotto, and her husband, Frank, of Moreno Valley, California, and Hazel Richards, of Porterville, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Riverside, California, until moving with his family to Visalia, California when he was five years old. After graduating from high school in 1939, he served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1940 until retiring in 1962. He then worked for the El Paso County Gas Department for a few years. He and Charlotte then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973, where he worked for the management service for Colorado Springs in 1988. Later, he and Charlotte moved to Seymour, Missouri in 1996.
Robert had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour Nazarene Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked working in his garden. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Matz, Marleen B., 67

Marleen Bridgetta Matz, daughter of Roy and Mary Parker Davis, was born January 7, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this life Monday, January 23, 2006, in Lake Regional Health System, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, and sixteen days.
On September 26, 1959, at St. Peter Canatius Church, in Chicago, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Gordon Edwin Matz, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Marleen is survived by her loving husband of forty-six years, Gordon, of the home; a daughter, Linda Sheriff, and her husband, Vaqar, of Camdenton, Missouri; two sons, Kevin Gerard Matz, and his wife, Madeline, of Roach, Missouri, and Brian Matz, and his wife, Joey, of Naperville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Dakota and Miko Matz, of Naperville, Illinois, and Kamran and Khalid Sheriff, of Camdenton, Missouri; a brother, Roy Davis, and his wife, Terry, of Bartlett, Illinois; a sister, Patricia Howlett, and her husband, John “Jack”, of Algonquin, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Providence High School. After she and Gordon were married, they made their home in the Chicago area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Marleen also worked for Illinois Bell and later for the American Academy of Pediatrics for several years. About eight months ago, she and Gordon retired to the Lake of the Ozarks.
Marleen was a member of St. Julian Eymard Church, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
She liked to travel and enjoyed life on the Lake and the wonders of nature. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Marleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Meents, Maxine, 85

Zula Maxine Meents, daughter of Hershel Stuart and Julia Evelyn Cansler Massie, was born June 7, 1920, near Long Lane, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in the Richland Care Center, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, seven months, and eighteen days.
On March 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to Franklin Meents, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin, on April 30, 2003; a granddaughter, Adrienne Lynne Windes; and a sister, Marie Carr Smith.
Maxine is survived by two daughters, Beverley Windes, and her husband, George, of Richland, Missouri, and JoAnn Massey, and her husband, Floyd, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Howard Meents, and his wife, Cynthia, of Salida, California; seven grandchildren, Andrea Wallace, and her husband, William, Brent Windes, Brandon Windes, and his wife, Ashley, Kevin Massey, and his wife, Rachel, Kenyon Massey, and his wife, Tara, April and Jerod Meents; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pansy Turner, Leoral Faye Akey, and Sonya Adkins, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives, her church family, and many friends.
She was raised on the family farm at Long Hollow, near Lebanon, in Laclede County, Missouri. She attended grade school at Gannon Country School and also attended two years of high school at Gannon. She then graduated from the Phillipsburg High School. She also attended college at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, but quit college to get married.
In her earlier years, she worked in the County Extension office in the court house, for the H. D. Lee Company, and also sold Avon. Most of her married life she was a homemaker that lovingly raised their three children.
Maxine was baptized into the Church of Christ in 1933 at the age of thirteen and was a devoted member of the Hayes Street Church of Christ in Lebanon.
She was very involved in the Bland Country School, at the edge of Lebanon, where her children attended. She also served as the school clerk for many years.
She loved gardening and canning, liked painting and sketching, meeting with her neighborhood club, and studying the Bible. She taught herself to play the guitar and also enjoyed teaching her daughters how to play. She always loved and enjoyed her family and many happy evenings were spent playing guitars and singing together. The family enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to vacation time each year. Her family and her church family were most important to her.
Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Bonnie Jo Middleton, daughter Dorsey M. and Merle L. Burd Howe, was born September 2, 1935, near Long Lane, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, January 26, 2006, in Citizens Memorial Hospital, in Bolivar, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, four months, and twenty-four days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Bethel M. Howe; a brother, Leland Stanley Howe; a sister, Carol Jane Howe; and a brother-in-law, George L. “Butch” Hoke.
Bonnie Jo is survived by a daughter, Christina Anne (Middleton) Mateer, of Lake Tahoe, California; two sons, Thomas Andrew Middleton, of Sasebo, Japan, and Douglas Arthur Middleton, of Boston, Massachusetts; two brothers, Larry Howe, and his wife, Janie, of Polo, Missouri, and Kenneth Howe, and his wife, Valerie, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Gerry Hoke, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised near Long Lane, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School. She was a civil service worker at Fort Leonard Wood for a few years. Most of her life was spent on the East Coast, in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also worked as an executive secretary for the General Electric Company for several years. Later in her life, she returned to Missouri, and made her home in Springfield and Buffalo.
Bonnie Jo attended Grace Community United Methodist Church in Buffalo, where she greatly enjoyed Bible study.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading and being around people. She bore her illness with great dignity and made the best of every day. She always possessed a positive attitude which she shared with all those around her.
Bonnie Jo will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and will cherish the memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2006, in the Grace Community United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Missouri. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Long Lane, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the the church. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Milford, Leo (Jack), 82

Jack Milford, son of Leo Odd and Vina Davis Milford, was born February 25, 1923, in Plattsburg, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, January 2, 2006, in his home, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and seven days.
On August 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Martha McFeeters, and to this union four sons and three daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a grandson, two brothers; and two sisters.
Jack is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; three sons, Eldon Milford, and his wife, Lynette, of Lebanon, Missouri, Thomas Milford and his wife, Rena, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Johnny Milford, of Marshfield, Missouri; three daughters, Jackie Young, and her husband, JC, of Marshfield, Missouri, Mary Clair, and her husband, Joe, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Linda Gates, of Springfield, Missouri; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlie Stewart, of Leavenworth, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Plattsburg and raised in California. He joined the Navy in 1941 and later moved back to Missouri where he worked as a farmer and was employed at Dayco for ten years.
Jack was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Clarence King Post #128.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, making wooden toys, and loved raising rabbits and beagles.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he has created for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with military rites. Purdy, Nellie M., 103

Nellie Mellisa Purdy, daughter of John and Annie Hart Stokes, was born December 20, 1902, in Laclede County, Missouri. She passed away from this life and her frail body to a life eternal on Monday, January 23, 2006, in Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of one hundred three years, one month, and three days.
On December 31, 1922, she was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Purdy, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; a brother, Orville Stokes; a sister, Ona Hays; and two half-brothers, Charley and Grover Dunn.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Joan Pline, and Helen Lillard, both of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cherry Carrel, and her husband, John, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Mike Reading, and his wife, Janet, of Lebanon, Missouri, Charley Reading, of Bennett Spring, Missouri, Doran “D. J.” Pline, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mary Springer, of Republic, Missouri; eight great-grandsons, Nathan Carrel, now serving as a medic in the U. S. Army and stationed in Baghdad, Alex Carrel, of Dallas, Texas, Steven Carrel, of Columbia, Missouri, Josh Reading, of Lebanon, Missouri, Ben Reading, of Springfield, Missouri, Patrick Springer, of Springfield, Missouri, Matthew Springer, of Aurora, Missouri, and Joseph J. Pline, of Cherokee, Kansas; a great-granddaughter, Emily Ann Pline, of Cherokee, Kansas; twelve great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Phillipsburg, Missouri. After living in Niangua, Missouri for several years, she and Joe moved to Laclede County where they made their home on the Mill Creek farm, just outside of Lebanon, for sixty-nine years. They were the first ones to grow small grain for thrashing. They enjoyed their cattle and other animals, like sheep and goats. The farming was all done with horses, until the tractor. Nellie had a large flock of laying hens and sold the eggs to the Cackle Hatchery. She loved her garden, flowers and yard until her health and eyes failed, then she could only feed her hummingbirds. She played a strong and important role in her family and grandchildren’s lives. She had a sharp memory for details, names, and events, and was a resource person when someone in the family needed information. She was very concerned for all her family’s well being and had a great love for and enjoyment of her grandchildren. She also loved and considered Doug and Jan Winterrowd and their sons as part of her family.
Nellie came to know Christ at a young age and joined the Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg, Missouri. Later she attended Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church until her eyesight failed.
Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Rea Mabel, 93

Mabel Irene Rea, daughter of Lee and Hattie Livingston Lightfoot, was born October 20, 1912, near Farragut, Iowa. She departed this life Wednesday, January 11, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, two months, and twenty-one days.
On December 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harold Eugene Rea, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, on February 7, 1991; a daughter, Judy Magnusson; two brothers, Elmer and Sherman; and two sisters, Lois and Ruth.
Mabel is survived by a daughter, Linda German, and her husband, Max, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandsons, Greg German, and his wife, Susan, of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Gary German, and his wife, Susan, of Hallsville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Drew, Katelyn, Sam, and Tom; a brother, Vern Lightfoot, and his wife, Mary, of Farragut, Iowa; a sister, Marjorie Anderson, of Tabor, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised near Farragut, Iowa, and graduated from Shenandoah High School. After she and Harold were married, they made their home on their farm in the Farragut community, and lovingly raised their daughters. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Mabel also worked side by side with her husband in the operation of their farm.
Mabel made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ. For many years she was very active in her church in Farragut.
She grew a large garden each year and enjoyed doing handwork in her spare time. She also liked to pick out walnuts, play cards, and visit with her family and friends. She was a very kind and generous person who loved her family dearly, and was especially close to her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Mabel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, in the Congregational United Church of Christ in Farragut, IA. Burial will be in the Farragut Cemetery. Rector, Dorothy, 84

Dorothy Helen Rector, daughter of Everett Newton and Margaret E. Keeney Webb, was born February 12, 1921, in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, January 9, 2006, in Lake Regional Health Systems, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months, twenty-seven days.
On February 4, 1939, in Camden County, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James E. “Red” Rector, Sr., and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Red, on March 17, 2003; a son, James Rector, Jr.; two brothers, Howard and Raymond Webb; and three sisters, Thelma Webb, Rosie Gregory, and Gertie Webb.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Seaton, and her husband, Harvey, of Macks Creek, Missouri; two sons, Larry Rector, and his wife, Linda, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Lee Rector, Sr., and his wife, Jeanne, of Macks Creek, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Gerry Rector, of Camdenton, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Cyrept, of Independence, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a lifelong resident of Camden County, Missouri. After she and Red were married, they made their home in the Camdenton area and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Dorothy was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family.
Dorothy made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of the Myetta Missionary Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed fishing with her husband, sewing, gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and going to garage sales. She and Red enjoyed doing wood crafts together, which they sold throughout the country. He did the sawing and cutting and she did the painting. Her family was very important to her and she greatly enjoyed being a grandmother.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Reukauf, Daisy, 89

Daisy Lenora Reukauf, daughter of Archie and Clara Oetting Wilcox, was born January 29, 1916, in Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, January 20, 2006, in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months, and twenty-one days.
On November 17, 1934, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Reukauf, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence, on December 31, 1993; and a sister, Edith “Pete” Kirby.
Daisy is survived by a daughter, Pat Smith, and her husband, Dave, of Springfield, Missouri; a granddaughter, Pamela Smith-Rodden, and her husband, Martin, of Portsmouth, Virginia; a grandson, Douglas Smith, of Springfield, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Kate and Wilson Rodden; two sisters, Hazel Clark, and Madge Matlock, and her husband, Loman, all of Mansfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Mansfield community, and attended Oetting School. After she and Lawrence were married, they made their home near Mansfield, and lovingly raised their daughter. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, Daisy did sewing in her home, owned and operated a ceramic shop, and retired from Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory.
Daisy had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church.
She was an excellent seamstress and had created many beautiful pieces of clothing, including several wedding gowns. She also was a gifted artist and a wonderful cook. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Daisy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the special memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Russell, D. Pauline, 77

Delia Pauline Russell, age 77, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 after a long illness, Alzheimer’s disease, at her home in Roach. She was preceded in death by her parents Stewart and Lissie Slavens, her sister Bessie Willis, one brother John Freeman Slavens. Pauline was united in marriage on May 17, 1954 at the Big Niangua Baptist Church in Roach, and survived by her husband of 52 years, John E. Russell; who took loving care of her in the home the last years of her life. Pauline was also survived by sons Mike Russell of Memphis Tennessee, Mark Russell of Roach Missouri, 3 grandchildren, Jolie, Savannah Jane, and Rhianna Russell, one niece, Billy Ruth Edwards, one nephew Joe Butts, one sister-in-law Eileen Butts, one great niece Ruthie McCabe.
Pauline was dedicated to her savior Jesus Christ and his church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camdenton. She taught first and second grade Sunday school till well into her early seventies and vacation bible school until her late sixties in the church.
Pauline’s education started with her walking over a mile to a wood heated, one room schoolhouse in Roach, and after re-organization of the surrounding schools, graduated as valedictorian of her class of 1947 in the Camdenton R-3 school district. Pauline lived her entire life on land homesteaded by her ancestors and loved to take walks on the land, tell her children and grandchildren stories about her family, and educate them on the wild flowers and plants.
Pauline was civically involved; she served as Sponsor for the Roach Rockets 4-H club, President of the PTA for Camdenton schools, President of the Women’s Literary Club, on the Scholarship Committee, and volunteered for many years in the Camdenton school district.
In her work life, Pauline worked for 20 years in the Camden Court House in different positions, and retired from the Camdenton United States Post Office.
Pauline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. A caring neighbor, who loved children, and wanted to inform and guide them on the correct path for life, and was cheerful and thoughtful till the end.

Sanders, Martin R., 87

Martin Russell Sanders, son of Martin Harrison and Laura Ellen Schmutz Sanders, was born April 5, 1918, near Mayview, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, January 18, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, nine months, and thirteen days.
On August 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Olive June Coffey, and to this union two sons were born.
His parents, and a brother, Armin Sanders, preceded him in death.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Olive, of the home; two sons, Martin E. “Marty” Sanders, and his wife, Corazon D., of Hillsborough, California, and Larry R. Sanders, of Columbia, Missouri; a granddaughter, Laura C. Sanders; a brother, Sam Sanders, of Higginsville, Missouri; two sisters, Emma Tebbenkamp, and her husband, Calvin, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Dorothy Wells, of Wichita, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Gladys Sanders, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Mayview and Higginsville, Missouri area and graduated from Mayview High School. He then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army National Guard and then in the United States Army from November 13, 1939 until October 21, 1945. During World War II, he spent two years in California with the Western Defense Command, took part in the Invasion of Normandy, the Central European Theater Campaign, and the occupation of Austria. After he and Olive were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their sons. Martin worked as the area supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration for a number of years, retiring in 1983. For seven years, he taught veterans with on-the-farm training.
Martin was a longtime active member of First Christian Church in Lebanon, where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Through the years, he had also served as a Deacon and Elder and was currently an Elder Emeritus.
He was a longtime proud member of the Lebanon Rotary Club and had been named a Paul Harris Fellow. While his sons were young, he coached Little League Baseball for several years. He liked watching athletics, was always interested in civic projects, and was an avid reader. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his granddaughter.
Martin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2006, in the First Christian Church, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Smith, Dorothy Marie, 82

Dorothy Marie Hart Smith, daughter of Percy Virgil and Florence Lillian Tesson Hart, was born October 30, 1923, in Milbank, South Dakota. She departed this life Friday, January 13, 2005, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, two months, and thirteen days.
On June 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Maxwell C. “Buster” Smith, and together they shared fifty-four years of marriage and fifty-eight years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maxwell, on September 6, 1998; a daughter, Beverlee Ann Smith; a son, Ralph Maxwell Smith; a grandson; a brother; a sister, Florence Krause; two half-brothers; and a half-sister.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Lewis Smith, and his wife, Sandra, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Mickey Walker, of Oxnard, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in South Dakota, and attended school in Clear Lake. She then moved with her family to Lebanon, Missouri in 1942, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1944. After she and Maxwell were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Dorothy was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Dorothy made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon.
She was an excellent cook and liked making special dishes for her family. She also liked to sew in her spare time, and enjoyed having children around her.
Dorothy will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for all those that knew and loved her.

Smith, Marshall W., 79

Marshall Warren Smith, son of Volney and Ova McIntosh Smith, was born July 21, 1926, in Mansfield, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, January 1, 2006, in Lee’s Summit Hospital, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, five months, and ten days.
On September 3, 1973, he was united in marriage to Kay Sweeney, and together they shared the last thirty-three years.
His parents preceded him in death.
Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Kay, of the home; a brother, Leo Smith, and his wife, Barbara, of Irving, Texas; his step-mother, Ilenia Smith, of Mansfield, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Mansfield and attended Mansfield Schools. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked in the harvest fields, drove a milk route, and also worked for Kraft Cheese. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he was employed in the maintenance department for Kansas City Baptist Temple, which included their retirement homes.
Marshall had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple.
In his spare time he enjoyed doing woodworking projects, and was an avid reader.
Marshall was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Iva Pauline Starnes, daughter of Clarence and Beatrice Cansler Holmes, was born October 28, 1921, near Drynob, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in Raymore Healthcare Center, in Raymore, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, two months, and nineteen days.
On February 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to Dean Winfred Starnes, and to this three sons were born. A few years later, a daughter, Judy, completed the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean, on September 19, 1993; two granddaughters, Wendy Starnes, and Valerie Hebenstreit; a grandson, Jason Starnes; and a sister, Arlene Busick.
