Thelma's dedication to service was evident in everything that she accomplished. She was at many a fire scene to feed the many and always was in the best of spirits. At the end of the year, you never knew what "white elephant" gift she would come up with for the bad Santa exchange. My family will miss her. Bobby, Charles and family,
When I read the news of Thelma's passing, I just was stunned. My grief can never compare to the grief you feel. However, I did want to share with you how Thelma touched me. How much I admired her spirit.
When I first came into Red Cross as a volunteer, she welcomed me. For the many Wednesdays I served with the each of you, especially Thelma, I enjoyed hearing her share her many stories of her life. From the times she served with generals, DC, Arizona and around the world with her militrary career. She would have me laughing, and sitting on the edge of my seat for the final outcome of her stories. Not only did she serve with our armed forces, but with the American Red Cross. She dedicated so much of her life to others. She was an inspiration!
I have felt truly honored to have shared paths with her over the last few years. Certainly will not be the same without her weekly dose wisdom and banter in the office.
My heart goes out to you and your family!##imported-begin##Lynette McDaniel##imported-end##
