Anita Marie Pickens (Buffalo)

November 12, 1933 - June 10, 2022

Anita Marie (Harding) Pickens, daughter of Roy and Olive (Turpin) Harding, was born in Perry, Kansas, on November 12, 1933, and passed from this life Monday, June 6, 2022, at Colonial Springs Healthcare center in Buffalo, MO. At the time of her passing, she was eighty-eight years of age. Anita married Paul Pickens on July 24, 1955, in Perry, Kansas at the Perry United Methodist Church. Together, they had four children: Timothy, Sheila, Jeffrey, and Alesia. Anita graduated from Kansas City Missouri General Hospital School of Nursing in September, 1954 and worked as a Registered Nurse and hospital supervisor for over 35 years. Anita enjoyed life and had many hobbies; painting, quilting, sewing clothes, knitting, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling. She found great Joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A loving, encouraging, supportive Mother and Grandmother she was an amazing cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She loved giving gifts, also sharing her flowers, baked goods, recipes, hugs and crafts with others. The wonderful memories and blessings of Anita are immense and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her and the many lives she touched. Anita loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Buffalo, Missouri. Anita is survived by her four children; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Pastor Vicki Coons officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grace Community Church.
