Barbara Nicodemus (Buffalo)

May 23, 1946 - November 8, 2021

Barbara Jean (Haskett) Nicodemus of Buffalo, Missouri, daughter of the late Ralph R. Haskett and Blanch Haskett-McCurdy, was born on May 23, 1946 in Reedsport, Oregon and passed away on November 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was 75 years, 5 months and 16 days of age. Barbara’s family moved from Oregon to a farm in Halfway, Missouri when she was very young. She was a farm girl at heart and loved sleeping with cows and running barefoot. Barbara met the love of her life and soulmate, Richard Nicodemus, late in life. They were married on August 14, 1987. She was a member at Bible Baptist Church in Buffalo, Missouri, and she was saved on May 4, 1986. Barbara loved nature and was an avid gardener. She started “Nicodemus Iris Gardens,” which was her favorite place to be hybridizing irises. She was a member of The American Iris Society and The Iris Society of the Ozarks, and received numerous awards. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and painting. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Edith Kane. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nicodemus; three daughters, Patricia St. Clair of Bolivar, Missouri, Robin Coulter and husband Ron of Jerico Springs, Missouri, Shannon Nicodemus of Buffalo, Missouri; a sister, Irene Lambeth and husband Lynn; two brothers, Larry Haskett and wife Brenda, Eddie Haskett and wife Sharon; 10 grandchildren she was very proud of, Naboth St. Clair, Ryan Coulter, Caleb St. Clair, Camden Coulter, Brennan Coulter, Ryan Hallemeier, Sarah Hallemeier-Fahey, Hannah Schemmer, Chayson Coulter, Bryson Coulter; 17 great-grandchildren, with one more due in December; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Barbara will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Buffalo Bible Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Baker and Phil Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. before the service.
