Ruby Arlene Green (Urbana)

September 21, 1926 - January 30, 2022

Ruby Alene Ethridge was born September 21, 1926 near Urbana, Missouri to parents Ralph and Maudie (Howard) Ethridge. She passed away in her home in Nixa, Missouri on January 30, 2022 with her family by her side. Due to the death of her mother during childbirth, she and her sister Ruth, along with their father, moved in with her grandparents, Mama Mag and Daddy Jack Ethridge whom she loved dearly. She grew up in the Urbana area and graduated from Urbana High School in 1944. After two years of college she taught at the one room school, Pleasant Valley. She was united in marriage to Carl Russel Green on September 21, 1946 and to this union three children were born. They made their home near Urbana where they raised their family. She returned to the classroom as a teacher’s aide at Skyline School in the early 70’s until she retired in 1989. She was a faithful Christian and a long time member of Olive Point Church. She loved having her family at her home and especially cooking for them. Whether you dropped in with no notice or came for a large celebration, you would never leave hungry. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Carl; her parents, Ralph and Maudie; one sister Ruth Pendergrass; son-in-law Mike Green; and an infant grandson, Jeremy Paul Bybee; She is survived by her children, Ruthie (Gene) Bybee of Springfield, MO, Jackie (Terri) Green of Vian, OK, and Carla Green of Nixa, MO; grandchildren, Scott (Robbyn) Bybee, Mark (Angie) Bybee, Jennifer (Brad) Lotz, Shanda (Danny) Boling, Melissa Mullins; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Roberta Bolin. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Urbana, MO with Brad Lotz officiating. Escorts will be Scott Bybee, Kaden Bybee, Chandler Bybee, Mark Bybee, Mason Bybee, and Danny Boling. Interment will be in the Howard Chapel Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Urbana. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Howard Chapel Cemetery.
