Meads, Joseph Donald Don, 82 Joseph Donald Meads, son of Riley and Ruby Givens Meads, was born August 3, 1923, near Decaturville, in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, June 29, 2006, in Mercy Villa, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and twenty-six days. On November 30, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Mary Agnes Twomey, and together they shared fifty-six years before her passing on September 17, 2002. His parents, and a sister, Faye Klamm, also preceded him in death. Don is survived by two brothers, James Joseph Meads, and Delmar Meads, and his wife, Peggy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Lora Nygard, and her husband, Roger, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Florene Smith, and her husband, Roger, of San Jose, California; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised on the family farm in Camden County, Missouri, and graduated from Camdenton High School in the Class of 1941. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army 273rd Field Artillery Battalion for three years, and was part of the European Theatre during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945, and began working at the Agriculture Adjustment Administration office in Lebanon, in 1946. During his tenure there, he met and soon married, Mary. They then made their home in Johnson County, Kansas while Don worked as a miller for Rodney Milling Company until 1966. Their next career adventure took them to Webster County, near Marshfield, Missouri, where they were dairy farmers until 1979. Don continued to work as a milk hauler for Mid-America Dairy and assisting at auctions for the Luallin Auction Company. Don was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. Throughout the years, he had enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. Don was a loving brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, in the St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Calvary (Catholic) Cemetery. Memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Children may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
