Adra (Shadrick) Slavens (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Adra Lorene (Shadrick) Slavens, 88, daughter of the late James T. Willis and Emma Neta Parrack, was born in Macks Creek, MO on March 8, 1935. She departed this life on July 22, 2023 at the Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo, MO.
Adra was united in marriage to the love of her life, John D. Slavens on September 19, 1958, and to this union two sons were born, David Lynn Slavens and Timothy Lee Slavens. Lorene was a member of the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church. She was saved at the age of 12 and baptized on January 18, 1948 in the icy waters of the Niangua River. Lorene graduated from Macks Creek High School in 1953. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 69 years. She was a homemaker and loved to babysit. She loved her family and was very proud of her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Slavens; her sons, David Slavens and Tim Slavens; her granddaughter, Kaycee Renee Slavens; her parents, James and Neta Willis; one brother, Bob Willis; one sister-in-law, Juanita Williams; and three brothers-in-law, Gary Slavens, Sam Williams, and Pete Rucker. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Kathryn Slavens of Roach, MO and Michelle Slavens of Marshfield, MO; two grandsons, John David Slavens of Roach, MO and Tyler Dean Slavens of Marshfield, MO; one granddaughter, Hannah Rose & husband Kaleb Skidmore of Marshfield, MO; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Wyatt Slavens of Camdenton, MO; three sisters-in-law, Louise Willis of Macks Creek, MO, Mary Sue Rucker of Buffalo, MO, and Betty Swanigan of Marshall, MO. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Butcher officiating. Escorts will be Quentin Bishop, Archie Bishop, Carl Button, Clif Smith, and Paul Sheppard. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Church.
