Agnes A. May's Obituary
Agnes A. May, daughter of Charles H. Brittin and Katie A. Sinnema Crosley, was born September 4, 1921, in Converse County, Wyoming. She departed this life Saturday, October 14, 2006, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, one month, and ten days. On November 9, 1938, she was united in marriage to Vernon D. May and to the union, one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 6, 1997; her parents; siblings, Dell, Ervie, Harry, Gladys, Ray, Willard, Dorothy and Jess; and her son-in-law, Alan L. Bungard. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Avis Bungard, of Nixa, Missouri; five grandchildren, Doyle Bungard, of Norwood, Missouri, Joy Freter, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Kathy Hutton, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kimberly Powell, of Canon City, Colorado, and Jana Bungard-Sympson, of Nixa, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Graham Hutton, Chelsea Hutton, Gibson Freter, Zane Freter, Alana Sympson, Brandon Powell, Zebulun Freter, and Stacia Powell; a sister, Thelma Hurliman, of McMinville, Oregon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Converse County, Wyoming. After she and Vernon married they made their home in the Hudson, Wyoming area. Throughout the years, Agnes was a dedicated minister’s wife, helping with revivals, music and children’s ministries. They were in the evangelistic field for ten years; then organized and led the Nazarene Church of Norwood until they retired from the ministry in 1988. She attended the Lebanon Church of the Nazarene as long as her health allowed. Agnes was a person of great faith and strength. She had suffered numerous heart attacks and had survived breast cancer. She was a devoted and loving homemaker to her family. Always a giving person, she enjoyed baking special treats for family and friends. Not only was she a talented seamstress, but also did beautiful beadwork, crocheting and quilting in her spare time. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Agnes was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Drawing Room. Burial will be in the Thomas Cemetery, near Norwood, Missouri. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Sioux Mission Program of the Nazarene Church may be made through the funeral home.
