Agnes Dyer's Obituary
Agnes Lourene Dyer, daughter of Ellis W. and Luster Hough Light, was born March 31, 1908, near Delto, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, August 16, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-nine years, four months, and fifteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Southard; and three sisters, Elsie Enstrom, Mabel Spitz, and Hazel King. Agnes is survived by two grandchildren, John Roberts, and his wife, Pam, of Conyers, Georgia, and Tamara Waterman, of the State of New York; three great-grandchildren, Evan, Maura, and Candace; three nieces, Gloria Marlow, and Beverly Schoonmaker, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Peggy Edmonds, and her husband, Dave, of Cleveland, Ohio; a nephew, Ray Spitz, and his wife, Cheryl, of Tallahassee, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Billie Giles, of Sacramento, California; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Delto, Missouri community, and lived most of her life in the Laclede County area. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also worked as a telephone operator at Fort Leonard Wood for a number of years until retiring. Agnes made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lebanon for sixty years. She enjoyed going to the Hughes Senior Center, where she did volunteer work for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards and watching television. Agnes possessed a delightful sense of humor and a sparkling personality, and was a lady with lots of spunk and vitality. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Hough Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Hough Chapel Cemetery Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
