Agnes Hensley's Obituary
Agnes Hensley, daughter of Jesse Alonzo and Ella Mae Mansker Wood, was born December 30, 1908, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, April 24, 2006, in her home, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-seven years, three months, and twenty-four days. On July 3, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leelan Marian Hensley and together they shared fifty years before his passing on October 12, 1985. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nettie Gregory, and Opal Rowe; a half-brother, Cecil Wood; two half-sisters, Cora Sullivant, and Gladys Ward; an infant sister; a niece, Dottie Jean Radford; and three nephews, Gene, Don, and Gerald Gregory. Agnes is survived by a sister, Velma Ferriel, of Lebanon, Missouri; seven nieces, Joyce Butts, and Iris Bradley, both of Springfield, Missouri, Wilda Ferriel, of Lebanon, Missouri, Esther Young, Marie Garner, Maxine Smith, and Arlyene Rippee, all of Hartville, Missouri; two nephews, Jesse and Jimmy Gregory, both of Springfield, Missouri; a half-niece, Ruth Robinett, of the State of California; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. After she and Leelan were married they lived on their farm in Grovespring, until moving to Hartville in the early 1980’s. Then in October of 2002, she moved to “The Garden’s” in Springfield. Agnes made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of thirteen, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartville. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed making beautiful quilts and crocheting. Agnes will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, in Steele Memorial Cemetery, Hartville. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are incomplete and under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
