Aileen Hoodenpyle (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Aileen Frances Hoodenpyle, age 83, of Springfield, MO., passed peacefully at 9:57pm Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Brookhaven Health Care in Springfield, MO.
Aileen was born on September 28, 1927, in Kansas City, MO., the daughter of Harry Worland and Bernice Nelson. Shortly after the end of World War II Aileen met Lt. Col. James B. Hoodenpyle. They were married in 1947. In 1950, during the Korean Conflict, James was recalled into the U.S. Air Force. After serving almost 30 years, he and Aileen retired to Springfield, MO.
Upon moving to Springfield, they started Hoodenpyle Construction. For about 10 years they contracted and built several custom homes in the Springfield area. Aileen and James maintained a farm in Brighton, MO., where James had grown up. For more than 20 years the couple enjoyed spending the winter months in Pharr, TX.
Aileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James, on February 5, 2009; and one sister, Margaret Miller.
Surviving is her son, James B. Hoodenpyle, Jr. and wife Pam, of Pleasant Hope, MO.; daughter, Sandra K. Karm and husband Johnny, of Victoria, TX.; a brother, Wayne Worland and wife Betty, of Longmont, CO.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 4:00pm., in Slagle Cemetery, south of Bolivar, with Ann Payette officiating under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
