Aileen Selby's Obituary
Aileen Green Selby, daughter of Miles and Amy Brown Hammer, was born November 9, 1921 in Stoutland, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, December 27, 2007 in Windsor Estates of Camdenton, at the age of eighty-six years, one month and eighteen days. On December 23, 1939 in Lebanon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George Green. To this union two daughters were born. He preceded her in death in 1969. In June of 1983, she was married to Wayne Selby. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Lewis Guy Hammer. Surviving are her daughters, Joyce McDaniel and her husband, Morris, of Richland, Missouri, and Geneva Hillhouse and her husband, Ed, of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Marie Looney of Lebanon, Missouri, and Velma Boan and her husband, Calvin, of Springhill, Kansas; three grandchildren, David Lowery and his wife, Connie, of Lebanon, Missouri, Jennifer Hicks and her husband, Jay, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Joelle Jackson and her husband, Jackie, of Grandbury, Texas; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one step-son; one step-daughter; a number of step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Aileen was raised in Stoutland, Missouri and attended Brown School there. She met George Green at church and they were later married and made their home in rural Montreal, Missouri. She moved to Camdenton in 2002. She was a homemaker and cared for the elderly. She made a profession of faith at any early age and was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery, taught Sunday school and was a member of the women’s group. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, piecing quilts and fishing. She loved to pick wild berries on the farm. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Aileen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She made an impact on many lives and we celebrate her life and her accomplishments. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in the High Point Cemetery, Stoutland, Missouri. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to Missouri River Hospice, High Point Cemetery or Hugo Cemetery may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
