Alan Francis (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Alan Jack Francis, age 59, of Aldrich, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at his home, in Aldrich.
Alan was born on March 29, 1958, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Jack and Joan (Wise) Francis. He graduated high school in 1976, from Shawnee Mission West, in Kansas, and at the age of 19 began working at General Motors.
He spent over 30 years at GM before retiring in 2006. He worked many jobs at the factory including painting, production, trim, and final assembly, stating out at the Leeds Assembly, in Kansas City, with the Local 93, then moving to the Saturn Plant, in Springhill, Tennessee, with the Local 1863, and finally ending at Wentzville, Missouri, with the Local 2250.
In 1984 Tamara Kriewitz began working at GM, and when Alan saw her, it was love at first sight. The two would have dates up on the roof, listening to Kansas City Royals’ games. After two weeks of being together, they knew they were soulmates, and were married on May 26, 1984, and had one month short of 33 years together, before his death.
Alan was saved at a young age, and had recently made his church the dock at the lake, with his dogs. He deeply loved his dog, Dade. He was known to talk to anyone that would listen, and would also share his faith with them, as well as laugh and have a good time.
He was also an avid reader and history buff. It is thought that he had read a whole library’s worth of books while on the production line. Alan enjoyed learning about WWII, and even taught himself the German language so that he could read firsthand accounts of soldiers in WWII. He passed this on to his grandchildren, who now also know some German.
Alan was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. This, along with his love for history, led him to do Civil War re-enactments, while he was in Tennessee.
The most important thing to him was his family. He was a good brother, husband, dad, and grandpa, and both grandsons are named after him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Francis; one nephew, Noah Francis.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Francis; daughters, Heather Francis, of Halfway, Missouri, and Asia Francis, of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Hadley Yarborough, Derik Yarborough, Miah Francis, Kam Booker, Krista Keys, and Liam Murphy; brother, Mike Francis, and his wife Lisa, of New Braunfels, Texas; sister, Jodi Francis, of Alvarado, Texas; step mother, Anne Fritz, of Lenexa, Kansas; as well as many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the NRA, by calling 877-NRA-GIVE, or the Polk County Humane Society, P.O. Box 334, Bolivar MO 65613.
