Albert Miller's Obituary
Albert Clark Miller, Jr., son of Albert Clark Miller, Sr. and Josephine Ardell Powell Miller, was born November 1, 1925, in West Salem, Oregon. He departed this life Sunday, October 4, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, eleven months, and three days. On February 22, 1981, he was united in marriage to Nellie Tennessee Elrod Rowlett, and together they shared twenty-four years before her passing on November 12, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Dewayne Rowlett; a brother, George; and four sisters, Alma, Ardell, Elizabeth, and Irene. Albert is survived by a stepson, Don Rowlett, and his wife, Alice, of Merryville, Louisiana; three grandsons, Matt Rowlett, and his wife, Twila, of Lebanon, Missouri, Dan Rowlett, and his wife, Debbie, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and John Rowlett, and his wife, Betty, of Bridge City, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chuck Miller, and his wife, Betty, of Atascadero, California, and Dwayne Hutchinson, of Drain, Oregon; a sister, Donna Hoffliger, of Drain, Oregon; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Salem, Oregon, where he received his education. At the age of nineteen, he entered the military and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. Albert served as a gunner on a torpedo bomber during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Oregon where he worked in the logging and sawmill business for several years. In 1981, he moved to Henderson, Texas, where he met and married Nellie. For the next several years, Albert and Nellie traveled and lived in various places before settling in Lebanon, Missouri, in 1995. Albert had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He also volunteered his time at the Free Store in Lebanon for several years. He liked telling stories and did so as often as possible. Albert was a loving stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will remember him as a devoted family man, a dedicated and courageous military soldier, and a good and true friend. Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday October 7, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday evening 7-8:30pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
