Alberta Slavens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Alberta Mae Slavens, daughter of Eugene and Ollie Brown Roberts, was born September 2, 1950, near Falcon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, August 24, 2017, in Dove Senior Citizen Home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, eleven months, and twenty-two days.
On February 21, 1968, she was united in marriage to Larry Lowrance, who preceded her in death in 1971.
In 1977, she married Gary L. Slavens, who passed away on November 26, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Alberta is survived by a daughter, Vera Mitchell, and her husband, Troy, of Victoria, Texas; a son, Freeman Slavens, and his wife, Dinvir, of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Shelby Eastburn, Dominik Hammond, Devyn Hammond, Kanoni Slavens, Trenton Slavens, Phillip Slavens, Katrina Hubbard, Strider Mitchell, Mitchell Mitchell, Ariel Presley, and Tim Mitchell; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Elana, Isabella Ann, and LeeAnn; a brother, Junior Roberts, and his wife, Kathy, of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Betty Myers, Judy Starnes, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Nancy Roberts, of Port Lavaca, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Falcon community and attended Lebanon High School. She worked as a secretary at Donnelly Elementary School for a few years and was a sales clerk at D & L. Shoe Store. For most of her life she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Alberta made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Sunnyview Freewill Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and had made many beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She also was an avid reader of detective novels. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alberta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A memorial has been established to the Dove Senior Citizens Home.
