Alice Mae Rhoads (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Alice Mae Rhoads, daughter of George Wesley and Alice Margaret Garrett Cromer, was born March 2, 1927, near Sleeper, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and eleven days.
On November 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Hobert W. Rhoads, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hobert, on December 27, 1991; a grandson, Lonnie; six brothers, Claude, Charley, James E., George C., John Albert, and Ralph; and two sisters, Geneva Sarah, and Betsy Gertrude.
Alice is survived by two daughters, Wilma Hodges, of Montreal, Missouri, and Neva Dix, of Marshfield, Missouri; two sons, Herbert Rhoads, of Lebanon, Missouri, and John Rhoads, and his wife, Lori, of Stoutland, Missouri; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and lived all of her life in Laclede County. After she and Hobert were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Alice was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Mae professed her faith in Christ early in her life at the Sleeper United Methodist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and raised many beautiful flowers over the years. She was especially proud of learning to drive at the age of sixty-five years. She was always willing to help others and was steadfast in her opinions. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-eight years.
