Alice Scheets (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Alice M. Scheets was born February 16, 1935 in Orla, Missouri to Rayma and Emma Goans Layman. She passed into eternal rest on Monday, October 13, 2025 at her home in Bismarck, Missouri. She was ninety years, seven months and twenty-seven days of age.
Alice was born at the end of the Great Depression and saw many, many changes in her ninety years. She was a part of what many consider as the greatest generation that ever lived.
Alice was raised in the Orla community and graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of 1953. She married Billy T. Scheets on November 28, 1953. Together they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage, making many wonderful memories.
After Alice and Billy were married, they made their home in Overland, Missouri while Billy worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. In 1956, they moved to Bismarck, Missouri where Billy worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and retired from there in 1991. It was soon after his retirement, the couple returned to Lebanon.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Billy on January 18, 2012; and a great-grandson.
She is survived by her son, Chad Scheets and his wife Danielle and her daughter, Janice Coleman and her husband James, all of Bismarck, Missouri; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her beloved cat, Domino; and other relatives and friends.
Alice was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking, especially for church dinners. She helped in the 4-H Clubs the children were involved in, as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was active at First Baptist Church, Bismarck. When she and Billy moved to Lebanon, they joined Union Mission Church where they faithfully served. Alice was also active with V.F.W. Post 6947 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She delivered Meals-On-Wheels as well.
Alice enjoyed growing flowers and reading. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs and was thrilled when they won. She looked forward to traveling south for the winter with Billy to escape the harsh Missouri winters.
Throughout her life, Alice was known for her unwavering faith in God and dedication to her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a haven of warmth, love and laughter, where countless memories were created and forever treasured.

Funeral service for Alice Scheets will be Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in White Oak Pond Cemetery near Lebanon.
A memorial to the Bismarck Senior Center or the Hughes Center has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
