Alice Schmachtenberger (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Alice (Allie) Eleanor Schmachtenberger, daughter of James Sydney Scrivner and Jessie Sexton Scrivner, was born November 7, 1920, in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life on September 30, 2015, in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, ten months and twenty-three days.
On March 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Chester Schmachtenberger. Chester preceded her in death on November 29, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rita Clark; granddaughter, Keira Vickers; great-granddaughter, Abby Meiss; three brothers, Glenn, Orville and Lowell Scrivner, as well as an infant brother, James, and infant sister, Ineth.
Alice is survived by her son, Carl Schmachtenberger and wife, Kathy, of Seymour, Missouri; grandchildren, Mona Latimer and husband, Bruce, of Kingman, Arizona; Bobbe Hurtado and husband, Vince, of Tucson, Arizona; Becky Carter and husband, Danny, of Rogers, Arkansas; Robyn Jackson, of Rogersville, Missouri; Tammy Meiss and husband, Geoff, of Nixa, Missouri; Stacey Satterfield and husband, Jim, of Walterboro, South Carolina; and Lee Vickers and wife, Ashley, of Venice, Florida; great-grandchildren, Nicole Heavey and husband, Brandon, of Pasadena, California; Jennifer Buckley and husband, Kyle, of Dallas, Texas; Nick Carter of Rogers, Arkansas; Courtlyn, Caleb and Caleigh Jackson of Ozark, Missouri; Trenton and Houston Satterfield of Walterboro, South Carolina; Cohen and Parker Vickers of Venice, Florida; and Emma and Landon Meiss of Nixa, Missouri; sister-in-law, Nona Scrivner; and special friend of over ninety years, Ruth Rodgers.
Alice was born in Douglas County and when she was 7 years old her mother passed away leaving her father and brothers to attend to the family farm. Alice being the only girl was sent to live with her aunt, Vesta Blair.
Alice had made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist since 1944. She was a very active and faithful member as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. For over 60 years she was the owner and operator of Alice’s Beauty Shop in Mansfield. In her spare time she enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music, reading the Bible and traveling.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her life and the memories of all of those special times together will never be forgotten.
