Alice May Schreier (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Alice May (Arnold) Schreier of Lebanon, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 in Cedarhurst Care Facility. She was born August 5, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph and Alice Marie (Foerster) Arnold. At the time of her passing she was ninety-seven years, five months and twenty-eight days.
On November 23, 1946, Alice met her future husband, Tom, on a blind date. He proposed to her on Valentine’s Day, 1947. On May 8, 1948, Alice was married to Thomas F. Schreier and to this union, four children were born.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Thomas Schreier; her parents; her sister, Carol Balloni and a brother, Jack.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Schreier and his wife, Cathy of Bellevue, Washington; Catherine Newbrough and her husband, Jim of Lebanon, Missouri, John Schreier and his wife, Cecille of Bismark, North Dakota and William Schreier of Belton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas III, Deborah, Chrissy, Mary Alice, Gabrielle, J.J. and Tommy; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Ellen Kulawiec and her husband, Len of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Tom and Alice retired to Lebanon, Missouri in 1988 to enjoy fishing at Bennett Spring State Park. Alice enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and making cookies for Tom and her children.
Alice and Tom spent most of their married lives living in Mexico, Missouri. It was then Alice began playing bridge and she continued to do so for over 60 years. She enjoyed the competition of the game, but also made many lifelong friends.
Alice was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 310 in Sedalia, Missouri for over 70 years. Alice and Tom were members of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church since moving to Lebanon. Alice was a member of PCCW until her health failed.
She worked as an admissions director Audrain County Medical Center.
Alice was a loving and caring person and enjoyed being with her family as much as possible. She left a wonderful legacy for her family and many memories for them to cherish.
Funeral service for Alice Schreier will be Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Cancer Society or St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church may be made and donations may be left at the funeral home.
