Alice L. Skinner (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Alice Leona Skinner, daughter of Archie Jackson and Velma Rita Ford Durham, was born February 21, 1929, in Slater, Missouri. She went to be with her precious Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, and twenty-six days.
On October 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Thomas O. Skinner, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas, on January 28, 1997; two brothers, Jearal and Richard Durham; and two sisters, Dorothy Fuemmler, and Patricia Miller.
Alice is survived by a daughter, Janest E. Hager, of Montreal, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jim Morris, Christopher Hager, and Samantha Dove; her great-grandchildren, Crystal Rodenbaugh, Conner Morris, Ethan Morris, Jordan Dove, Ella Dove, and five others; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born and raised in Saline County, Missouri, and received her education there. After she and Thomas were married, they made their home near Marshall, Missouri where Alice worked for the H. D. Lee Company for several years. Later, she, and Thomas moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their home. Alice was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked as a packer for the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon for a number of years. She also did some child care in her home for a time.
Alice made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She possessed a phenomenal green thumb and grew the most beautiful and amazing flowers. She also kind of liked pulling weeds. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was kind and generous to all her family and many friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Marshall, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church and left at the Funeral Home.
