Allan Davenport (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Allan Wilson Davenport, son of Richard and Ruth Kekuialono Wright Davenport, was born July 24, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He departed this life Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, ten months, and nineteen days.
On October 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jewell Maxine Williamson, and to this union two daughters and four sons were born. Jewell passed away on January 15, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth.
Allan is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; two daughters, Dana Huerter, and her husband, Ryan, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Susan Justice, of Beaumont, California; four sons, Howard Davenport, and his wife, Becky, of Lebanon, Missouri, Martin Davenport, and his wife, Peggy, of Lake Elsinore, California, Nathan Davenport, and his wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Gary Davenport, and his wife, Jo, of Hacienda Heights, California; two step-daughters, Joy McClanahan, and her husband, Brent, and Becky King, and her husband, Aaron, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two step-sons, Ray Owens, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tom Owens, of Rosedale, Oklahoma; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Hawaii and played varsity football in the high school where he graduated. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton during part of that time. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he returned to Hawaii. Once he and Jewell were married, they lived in Hawaii and lovingly raised their family. Allan worked in metal fabrication for many years and was employed by several places at different times. Later, he made his home in Lebanon, Missouri, where he met Ann.
Allan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He liked being outdoors and was an excellent golfer. He also enjoyed bowling and liked to gamble in Las Vegas. He also loved to make people laugh. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Allan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-six years.
Visitation will immediately follow the service Monday evening in the funeral home.
Graveside service and burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, with Full Military Honors.
