Allen Dale Lucas (Seymour)'s Obituary
Allen Dale Lucas, son of Melvin Larry and Doris Jean (Close) Mobbs, was born April 11, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life at 8:00 A.M., Friday, May 21, 2010, with his wife Linda by his side, in his home in Lewistown, Missouri, after a year long battle against brain cancer, at the age of fifty-five years, one month, and ten days.
On April 1, 2006, he was united in marriage to Linda Lucille Elston and together they have shared the last four years.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Melvin Larry Mobbs.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his mother, Doris Jean Mobbs, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother, Keith Mobbs, of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Kathy Embrey and her husband, Eugene, of Seymour, Missouri, and Tracy Kraft and her husband, Johnnie of Durham, Missouri; four nephews and one niece, Josh Embrey, of Seymour, Missouri, Dustin Roberson and his fiancée, Crystal Broyles, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Chad Embrey and his wife, Larissa, of Seymour, Missouri, John W. Kraft III, and Ashley Phillips and her husband, Scott, all of Durham, Missouri; a great-nephew, Scotty Embrey; his mother-in-law, Lucille Elston, of Clarence, Missouri; a step-daughter, Teri Sigler, of Kansas City, Missouri; and other relatives and many friends.
Allen graduated from high school in Fair Grove, Missouri, in the Class of 1974 and then enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country faithfully from May 1974 to May1977. He was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, and was assigned on the USS Ainsworth, a then state of the art naval vessel with its primary warfare mission to seek and destroy enemy submarines. He frequently visited England, Italy, Portugal, and most notably Rota, Spain, while spending extensive time in the Mediterranean Sea. His duties also took him to the Bahamas, Caribbean, and the South American regions. During his tours, Allen received both the recognition awards of Humpback and Blue Nose.
While performing his military service of protecting his country in the military, Allen greatly appreciated sports and particularly professional baseball, being a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. He had a tremendous passion for billiards and at one time owned his own upstart company. He also competed in national pool tournaments across the country.
Allen had worked for Kinney Billiard Sales in Springfield, Missouri, and Manchester Tank in Quincy, Illinois.
Allen was a gentle and kind man, who showed an enormous amount of strength. He loved his family very much and adored his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
