Alvin DeVault's Obituary
lvin Orville DeVault, son of Fred and Erma King DeVault, was born October 1, 1923 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He departed this life Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Doctor’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years, four months, and nineteen days. On January 29, 1942, Alvin was united in marriage to Julia Mae Waters and together they shared fifty-eight years until Julia’s passing on February 20, 2000. Alvin was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gail DeVault; and a son-in-law, Wayne Robertson. He is survived by three daughters, Carrie Robertson, of Ozark, Missouri, Carol Jean “Jeanie” Richardt and her husband Lee, of Barefoot Bay, Florida, and Linda Jones and her husband Carmon, of Mansfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Keith Robertson, Leslie Breedlove, and Kristyn Jones; three great-grandchildren, Logan Breedlove, Ezra Breedlove, and Sarah Breedlove; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Alvin was born in Fort Scott, Kansas and at a young age, had moved with his family to the Douglas County, Missouri area. He was a graduate of Ava High School. Alvin lived most of his life in the Douglas and Wright County areas except for the time he spent stationed in California while serving in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon returning from California, Alvin made his home in Wright County, near Mansfield, where he worked as a dairy farmer and also drove a truck for MFA feeds for many years. Alvin had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield Church of the Nazarene. In his spare time, Alvin enjoyed reading, gardening, and riding motorcycles he also loved watching westerns. Alvin’s family would like to thank the staff of Rocky Ridge Manor and Doctor’s Hospital for their endless care and compassion. Alvin was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
