Alzina M. Wilson (Seymour)'s Obituary
On December 6, 1933 I began my journey on this earth with my parents, Madaline (Scheffer) and Henry Ersing, in Buffalo, New York. I was one of 6 children, I had a brother Kitchner and 4 sisters, Winifred, Mary, Beatrice and Claire, who all finished their journey here before me.
I was raised in Buffalo, New York and that is where I met my husband and father of my children, Raymond Craig Wilson. We were married in Niagara Falls, New York on June 13, 1953 and enjoyed 43 years together until his passing in 1996. We were blessed to have 3 children to love; two daughters Vivienne and her husband Mark Ford, who reside in West Plains, MO, Linda and her husband Allen Wilson of Seymour, MO and a son Raymond Wilson and wife Cora, also of Seymour, MO.
In 2002 I met Victor DeVietoris, who I married on July 13, 2003 in Stony Plain, Ontario Canada. His children Rick DeVietoris and Lori Sarafanchin became my children. We were married 7 years before he parted this life in 2010.
My life has been blessed with many grandchildren, Jimmy Samuel, Joshua Chastain, Dustin Chastain, Deanna Bennett, Joey Sparks, Ashley Connell, Heather Abram, Autumn Lemire, Shaylea York and Joseph Barton and their spouses. My great grandchildren are Eli, Ali, Bradley and Caleb; Emma, Chad, Sara and Jacob; Penelope; Alivia and Braxton; Cole, Savannah and Sophia; Hailie and Harlie; Aliyah and Abdul; Madison and Marissa; Ivan, Evan, Devan, Gavan, Maryah and Kendra Dawn.
In 1960, our family moved from Buffalo to Hartville, MO and eventually made our forever home in Seymour, MO. I worked several years at H.D. Lee Co. in Seymour and Brown Shoe Factory in Mansfield, MO until my retirement in 1983 to become a caregiver to my sister Mary.
My faith has been a blessing to me and I gave my life to Christ at an early age and followed Him in baptism in 1997.
I loved living on the farm and caring for my family and pets. I leave behind my 2 dear cats, Rusty and Bubby but my life has been filled with other special pets throughout the years, Peirre, Herby, Penny, Frisky and Calli.
I enjoyed crocheting and made each of my children an afghan while they were young. Later, I began embroidery and enjoyed giving the towels and pillowcases to family and friends. In the summer it was always a pleasure to feed and watch the hummingbirds that were in my care. At Christmas, my kitchen was filled with the aroma of fresh cooked breads, candies and my mother’s aniseed Christmas cookies. It was such a delight to have my grandchildren over to help decorate the cookies and share all the goodies with others.
My greatest joy was being with my family, friends and church family that I loved so much. On October 23, 2017, my journey on this earth ended and I went home to be with my heavenly father and those who have gone before me. So don’t cry for me, embrace life and live your life so that we can all be together one day.
Love to all,
Alzina Marie Wilson
