Anna Jane Collins (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Anna Jane Collins, daughter of Isaac and Bina Turner Ackroyd, was born September 19, 1924, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, June 29, 2018, in Maple Wood Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, nine months and ten days.
On June 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Collins, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, on September 8, 2004; and two sons, Danne E. Collins, in December of 2002, and Michael K. Collins in June of 2017.
Anna Jane is survived by a daughter, Becky Collins, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Lance Collins, and his wife, Pam, of Searcy, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law, Shannon Collins, of Tucson, Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Cory, Niki, Jeremy, Adam, Cara, Isaac, Todd, Kristin, Kayelyn, Lyndon, and Levi; thirteen great-grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Isaac, Hudson, Asher, Blake, Emerson, Saylor, Klaytin, Kendall, Brantley, Teagan, and Adalynn; a sister, Betty Curry, of Hobbs, New Mexico; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Blackfoot community and graduated from Lebanon High School. After she and Ralph were married, they made their home in Hobbs and Lovington, New Mexico, and in Arkansas before coming back to Lebanon, where they lived for a number of years. They also lived in the Waynesville area for a time. Anna Jane was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and enjoyed cooking for her family. She and Ralph enjoyed making trips to Arizona where they spent a lot of their retirement time. Later, after Ralph passed away, Anna Jane moved to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to more of her family.
She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she had served as a Valentine Queen. She also was very interested in genealogy and was a member of the Laclede County Historical Society. She played the harmonica, violin, piano and organ, and enjoyed clog dancing. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-three years.
