Anna Hazlewood (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Anna Laura Hazlewood, daughter of Forlisco and Clara Jane Stewart Eilenstein, was born December 21, 1924, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, November 29, 2013, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months, and eight days.
On April 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Hazlewood, and to this union one son and one daughter were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on May 4, 2000; a great-grandson, Christopher Lee Richardson, Jr.; a brother, James Herman Eilenstein; eleven sisters, Sadie Rachel Riley, Maggie Lena Eilenstein, Nora Esther Harvey, Bertha Lou Goings, Myrtle Mae Weber, Ona Blanche Wilson, Mary Elizabeth Rogers, Emma Woodrow Rogers, Della Malmae Jones, Dorothy Ellen Ross, and Clara Jane Morris,.
Anna is survived by a son, Robert Michael Hazlewood, of the Philippines; a daughter, Shela Ann Gleghorn, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dorothy, Glenna, Chris, Roger, C. R. and Anna; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and attended Millcreek School. She then moved to California, where she worked as a welder at the shipyards during World War II. During this time, she met and married Robert. They continued to make their home in the Bay area of California until moving to Missouri in 1963. They purchased a farm, near Lebanon, and finished raising their children. Anna was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also worked as a seamstress for Justice Furniture for several years. She later was employed as a sales associate at Wal Mart, as a convenience store clerk, and in the housekeeping department of a motel. Eventually, she sold the farm and moved in to Lebanon.
Anna had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of North Five Freewill Baptist Church.
She was an avid reader, liked to sew, and enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. She also liked working in her garden and growing beautiful flowers. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
