Anna King (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Anna Lois King, daughter of Julius James and Dollie Roberta Heape Meyer, was born August 18, 1927, near Conway, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, ten months, and five days.
On December 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Samuel Edward King, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Sam, on March 7, 1997.
Anna is survived by two daughters, Donna Henson, and her husband, Loyd, and Wanda Hendrix, and her husband, Robert, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri; an honorary daughter, Debbie Scurlock, and her husband, Larry, of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren, Donnie Guthrie, Edward Henson, and his fiancée, Carmon Munden, Bradley Guthrie, Kerri Ratsch, and her husband, Tim, Tracy Johnson, and her husband, Aaron, and Elizabeth Hendrix; eight great-grandchildren, Corey, Samuel, Levi and Hannah Henson, Lillian and Allison Johnson, and Evan and Luke Ratsch; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Conway, Missouri area, and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. After she and Samuel were married, they made their home in the Conway and Long Lane areas and lovingly raised their daughters. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Anna worked as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon for twenty-five years. She also worked at McShane’s Restaurant in Conway, and was an aide in the Conway Schools for six years. She greatly enjoyed working with the children.
Anna was saved and baptized at a young age, and was currently attending Twilight Church, near Conway.
She was an active member of a quilting club which she truly enjoyed. She loved making quilts and had hand pieced and hand quilted one for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also liked traveling and camping at the lake. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and liked celebrating birthdays and other milestones in their lives.
Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, and left at the funeral home.
