Arlene Clara Perkins (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Arlene Clara Perkins, daughter of John F. and Mayflower Blanchard Nunes, was born June 15, 1947, in New London, Connecticut. She departed this life Friday, December 31, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-three years, six months, and sixteen days.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Arlene is survived by a daughter, Christina Sheriff, and her husband, Clint, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, James DeCosta, and his wife, Sherry, of Lebanon, Tennessee, Paul DeCosta, of Uncasville, Connecticut, and Shawn DeCosta, and his wife, Melissa, of Groton, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Jasmine Barber-DeCosta, Austin DeCosta, and Antonio DeCosta, all of Groton, Connecticut, and Cameron Sheriff, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, John Nunes, of the State of Tennessee; three sisters, Mary Johnson, of the State of North Carolina, Rose Smith, and Elizabeth Nunes, both of the State of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews; her fiancé, Larry Sauerman, of Lebanon, Missouri; her best friend, Nancy Perkins, of Waterford, Connecticut; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Groton, Connecticut and attended school there. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Arlene worked very hard providing for her family. She held various jobs within the food service industry and then began working at the Mohegan Sun Resort Casino, where she eventually became a Black Jack dealer. Later in her life, Arlene moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made her home.
Arlene had attended Groton Bible Chapel in Connecticut.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bingo, doing word search puzzles, and shopping on QVC. She centered her life around her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing, listening to country music, and spending time on the beach.
Arlene was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and fiancée, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
