Arthur S. Bowman (Lebanon)'s Obituary
On September 15, 1936, Arthur ”Art” Spencer Bowman was born to Arthur Stanley and Amelia Kurtz Bowman in Wilks-Barre, Pennsylvania. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in his home in Falcon, Missouri. He was eighty-nine years, one month and twenty-seven days of age.
Art is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Bowman, of the home; two sons, Nathaniel Bowman and his wife Karen of Springfield, Missouri and Gabriel Bowman and his wife Deanna of Lebanon, Missouri; his daughter, Kitty Affun and her husband Francis of Euless, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael, Phillip, Charlie, Bethany and Violet; three great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Destiny and C.J.; his sister, Carol Ann Bowman of Pfaff, North Carolina; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Amelia; one grandson, Ryan; two sisters, Alice and Evelyn; and his brother, Bill.
Art spent his early years in Pennsylvania before moving with his family to New Jersey. Following high school, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his time there, he moved to Idaho. He was a Boilerman for the Navy and had earned the rank of BT2 when he was honorably discharged.
On June 24, 1959, Art was united in marriage to Dorothy Craven and together they weathered the trials and joys of married life for over sixty-six years.
In 1964, the couple moved to Missouri where they worked on a Dairy Farm. Art then went to work for MFA, followed by National By-Products where he was a boiler man.
Art found great pleasure in wood carving. He also enjoyed growing plants in his greenhouse and gardening. He loved his family very much and was a big part of each one of their lives.
Art had a strong faith in God and was proud of his service to his country.
Art was many things to many people. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, cherished father, and loving grandfather, great-grandfather, and good friend. He will be greatly missed and his memory will stay in the hearts of those he loved.
