Arthur West's Obituary
rthur Allen “Jack” West, son of Benjamin D. and Eva Alexander West, was born May 6, 1931, near Sleeper, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years and one day. On December 29, 1951, he was united in marriage to Norma Lou Osborn, and to this union two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ricky West; and two sisters, Nadine Robinson, and Polly Burgess. Jack is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Norma, of the home; a son, Roger West, and his wife, Toni, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Carman West, of Lebanon, Missouri; three granddaughters, Brandy Jones, and her husband, Jason, Angie West and Joe Dickinson, and Chrissy Bethel, and her husband, Troy; eight great-grandchildren, Tia, Jase, and Marissa Jones, Joey, Kenlie, and Abbie Dickinson, and Tyler Alford, and Christopher Bethel; two sisters, Faye West, and Maxine Clayton, both of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Sleeper community. After he and Norma were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their sons. Jack worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Richland and then drove a truck for Campbell 66 for a few years. He began a career in electrical work at Frasier Brothers Construction Co., then worked at Farm Supply Company and Cole Supply Company. He later started his own business, West Plumbing and Electric in Lebanon, which he and Roger have operated for the last several years. Jack had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Sleeper Pentecostal Church. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, boating and gardening. He also liked to go hunting in his younger years. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated businessman, and a friend to many. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Barnett Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
