Atilee Kukal (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Atilee Kukal, age 86, of Bolivar, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.
She was born on October 8, 1927 in Eudora, Missouri to Edgar Hagerman and Nettie (Brown) Hagerman.
Atilee was saved at a young age at the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
Atilee was united in marriage to John Leonard Kukal on March 28, 1948 at the Barren Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. John first fell in love with Atilee after seeing her drive by, her red hair blowing in the wind; she made his heart beat.
She worked at the Polk County Clerk’s Office for 18 years. She was a loving mother, John’s “Right Hand”, and loving wife for 66 years. She was first a member at the Barren Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the same church where she and John were married, then transferred membership to the First Baptist Church in Bolivar.
Atilee is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Nettie (Brown) Hagerman; two brothers, Dolan Hagerman, and Lowell Hagerman.
She is survived by her husband, John Leonard Kukal, of the home; daughter, Linda Rice, and husband Gene, of Bolivar; daughter, Kathy Overcast, of Bolivar; three grandchildren, Gelin Douglas and husband Pat, of Bolivar, Steven Gallivan and wife Sara, of Halfway, and Russell Gallivan and wife Ami, of Thorton, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Josie and Cy Douglas, Sloan, Sammi, Shane, and Sterling Gallivan, Madison, Brody John Gallivan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Atilee will be greatly missed by all that knew her, especially by her husband and family.
