Audrey Bailey's Obituary
Audrey Mae Bailey, daughter of Wesley Erving and Alice Anna (Ingmire) Brown was born June 23, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life Saturday, January 2, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, six months and ten days. On February 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to James Boice Bailey, and they shared fifty wonderful years before his passing on April 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her son, Lester (Butch), who died in service to our country during the Vietnam War; her parents; and her step-father, Reverend Paul Creviston. She is survived by her caretakers and adopted family, Claudia and David Reid, of Seymour, Missouri, and their children, Cherry Schafer, Clint, David Lee, and Robie Reid, and their grandchildren, Chaelynn, Alison, Chantel, Nichole, and Brittany; her granddaughter, Lori M. Hicks, and two great-grandsons, Ty and Ian Hicks, all of Midlothian, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Ruth Dembowski, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Tammy Barlow of Fordland, Missouri, and Skye Johns, of Seymour, Missouri; as well as other relatives and many good friends. She grew up in Ohio and then moved to California where she met and married Jim in l952. They lived in several locations while Jim served with the United States Navy; and after he retired from the service in l967, they came to Missouri in 1969 and made their home on their acreage near Seymour. He established a heating and plumbing business, and she worked as a bookkeeper at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and later became office manager at the H.D. Lee Company in Seymour for several years. She also helped her mother and step-father, Alice and Paul Creviston with their bookkeeping and tax preparation business. She taught a computer class for a short time and helped the senior citizens with their tax returns. Audrey had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of the Seymour Nazarene Church. She loved her church and was a strong supporter of the youth church camps and other activities. She enjoyed attending services until her health began to fail. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, reading, and helping Claudia and David with the dog business. She was especially fond of her Bichon and Cockapoo dogs. Audrey was a lady of strong character who loved her God, family, and friends very much. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
