Augusta Fay Foughty (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Augusta Fay Hicks Foughty, daughter of Robert L. and Avaline Cynthia Willard Lowery, was born April 7, 1921, near Corkery, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, two months, and twenty-three days.
On May 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to Herman Henry Hicks, and to this union five daughters and two sons were born. Mr. Hicks passed away on September 28, 1977.
In 1981, she married Gerald F. Foughty, and they shared twenty years before his passing on August 11, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Jean Hicks; two brothers, Marion and Bill Lowery; and a sister, Bessie Fern Coleman.
Fay is survived by four daughters, Willa Jane Huff, and her husband, Jim, of Lebanon, Missouri, Janice May Knapp, and her husband, Ricky, of Springfield, Missouri, Bonnie Fay Gilbert, and her husband, Howard, of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Tammy Riley, and her husband, Stephen, of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Rev. James E. Hicks, and his wife, Joyce, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Ronald Hicks, and his wife, Debbie, of Ozark, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Flora May Mulligan, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and lived most of her life in the Lebanon area. Fay was an excellent homemaker to her husband and family, and was a wonderful mother to her children. In addition to managing the house, she also worked for the Rice Stix Factory for a short time.
Fay made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Grace Calvary Full Gospel Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, growing beautiful flowers, and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. She possessed a dry sense of humor, and loved to laugh. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Fay was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
