Barbara Ann Barney's Obituary
Barbara “Barb” Ann Barney 75, a homemaker, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, July 4, 2010, in Wichita, Kansas.
Barbara attended high school in Gentry, Ar. where she played basketball and was 1954 homecoming queen. She was a member of Bethel Life Center for 56 years, involved in Kansas Women’s Ministries of the Assemblies of God and was a longtime C. A. youth director, Barbara was a para-professional at Colvin Elementary and a cook at Mayberry Jr. High School. She played church and cityleague softball and volleyball for years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Bernece O. Collins and a brother, John C. “J.C.” Collins. Survivors include her husband, David C. Barney of Wichita: sons, Tim (Tammy)Barney of Wichita, Kansas, Tom (Leanne) Barney of Goddard, Kansas and Ted (Maria) Barney of Wichita, Kansas, a daughter, Teresa (Galen) Dixon of Hartville, Missouri, a brother, Leon Collins of Rogers, Arkansas, a sister, Minnie (Harold) Fortenberry of Gentry, Arkansas, grandchildren, Jordan & Brett Barney, Joni (Phil) Reed & Jeni Dixon, Trent (Jendy), Craig & Drew Barney, Heather, Ethan & Evan Barney, a great-grandson, Brody Barney.
Funeral service for Barbara were at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Bethel Life Center in Wichita, Kansas under the directions of Resthaven Mortuary of Wichita, Kansas.
Memorials have been established to Gideons International- Wichita SW Camp, and Women’s Ministries of Kansas-Assemblies of God, 8301 E. 21st N., Suite 230, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
