Barbara Ann Smith's Obituary
Barbara Ann Smith, daughter of Floyd Lee and Mary Oleta (Cummins) Johns, was born April 20, 1945 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, May 20, 2007 in her home in Seymour, Missouri at the age of sixty- two years. On April 28, 1962, in Ava, Missouri, Barbara was united in marriage to Richard Wayne Smith and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hazel; two brothers, Bobby Joe and James Cornelison; as well as her father-in-law, Paul H. Smith. Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Wayne, of the home; two daughters, Carol Sue Wheeler, and her husband, Dennis, of Strafford, Missouri, and Carla Ann Smith, and her fiancé, Daniel McLinn, of Seymour, Missouri; one son, Matthew Smith, and his wife, Cynthia, of Seymour, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Erin, Montana, Cierra, Cameron, Jonah, Autumn, and Garyth; two sisters, Lena Kay Sewards, and her husband, Jim, of Statesville, North Carolina, and Martha Love, of Seymour, Missouri; two brothers, Linzy Lee Johns, and his wife Barbara, of Clinton, Iowa, and Floyd Carey Johns, of Springfield, Missouri; her mother-in-law, Ione Smith, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Doris Herd, and her husband, Arnold, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Fred Smith, and his wife, Lillian, of Dodge City, Kansas, Norman Smith, and his wife Bessie, of Niangua, Missouri, Ruth McPhail and her husband Bill, of Springfield, Missouri, Mary Smith, Barbara Brooks, and Dean Smith, and his wife, Patty, all of Seymour, Missouri, Rick Smith, and his wife Charlene, of Bartlett, Nebraska; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Barbara was born and raised in the Seymour area. She worked at various occupations in Seymour, and attended the Seymour Freewill Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She also attended many benefit trail rides and worked with various charities throughout the area. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, trail riding, watching her hummingbird feeders and loved being in the outdoors. Barbara loved entertaining, she always had an open door policy and loved to welcome friends, relatives and loved ones to visit her and her family at their home. She was also a very loving and generous grandmother. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and sister-in-law, and was a caring neighbor and loving friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her many family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials to The American Cancer Society or the donor's choice may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
