Barbara Ann Austin (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Barbara Ann Austin, daughter of the late Ira Owen and Ruby Jane (Wommack) Wiseman, was born on September 6, 1938 in Sarcoxie, MO and departed this life on November 15, 2025 in Buffalo, MO. At the time of her passing she was 87 years, two months, and 8 days of age. Barbara spent her early years in Sarcoxie, MO before moving to Elkland, MO with her family in the 1940’s. She graduated from Elkland High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Jessie Garrett in April of the same year. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive her. They enjoyed playing music and singing together and often had bluegrass music parties in their home. Barbara was a wonderful baker and was well known for her pies and cinnamon rolls. She also used her talents to comfort families who were grieving by taking them meals. Barbara was a charter member of the Union Mound Baptist Church. She was later married to William “Red” Austin, and together they enjoyed many years of music, family, and volunteering at the VFW. Barbara was preceded in death by both her husbands, Jessie Garrett and William “Red” Austin; her parents; and one brother, Delmar Ray Wiseman. She is survived by her son, Tim Garrett of Buffalo, MO; her daughter, Cheryl & husband Tim Jackson of Buffalo, MO; five grandchildren, Amanda & husband Nathan Stitt, Chad & wife Winter Hendrickson, Scott Garrett, Cody Jackson, and Lacy & husband Matt Carmack; and one brother, Steve & wife Sherry Wiseman of Eldorado Springs, MO. She also leaves many great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends who will all truly miss her. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 in the Calvary Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Ethan Grubaugh officiating. Escorts will be Augustine Hendrickson, Nay Hendrickson, James Smith, Ben Smith, Lukas Stitt, and Matthew Stitt. Interment will be in the Fraker Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Union Mound Cemetery Baptist Church or the Fraker Cemetery.
