Barbara "Sue" Cook (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Barbara “Sue” Cook was born January 4, 1940 in Lebanon, Missouri, to Homer Virgil and Dorothy Lucille Mosier. Sue entered eternal rest on Monday, November 3, 2025 in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon, Missouri. She was eighty-five years, nine months and thirty days of age.
Sue was raised in Lebanon, Missouri and was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1957. She married Marvin Eugene Cook on January 20, 1957. They were married almost fifty-three years prior to his passing on December 9, 2010.
In addition to her loving husband, Sue is preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Larry Joe Cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Turnage and her husband Aaron of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her son, Craig Eugene Cook and his wife Jessica of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Lukas Mawhirter and his wife Chelsi, Justin Mawhirter and his wife Emma, Patton Cook and his wife Lexi, Harrison Cook, Sydney Gregory and Allie Gregory; six-great-grandchildren, Callie, Conner, Colby, Charlotte, Hunter and Ellianna Mawhirter; her sister, Carol Jean Bowman and her brother-in-law, Jerry Bowman.
Sue was proud to be a housewife and mother to her children and moved with her husband and supported him while he served in the United States Navy. The family moved to the Kansas City area where Marvin was employed with IBM. Following his retirement in 2000, the couple returned to Lebanon, Missouri.
Sue was a wonderful singer and sang in gospel groups. She was a member at First Freewill Baptist Church and cooked at the church for Wednesday night services. She enjoyed being a part of the Linda Lunch Bunch Friday group.
Sue enjoyed eating out, especially for breakfast. She also looked forward to decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays, and Christmas was her favorite.
Throughout her life, Sue was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, embodying the roles of a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a haven of warmth, love and laughter, where countless memories were created and will always be treasured.
A service will be held later this month.
