Barbara Dickson's Obituary
Barbara Josephine Dickson, daughter of Bernard Clarence and Leona Liola (Cantrell) Scott was born June 17, 1937 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, March 5, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years, eight months and sixteen days.
On June 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to James Lee Roy Crump and to this union one son and three daughters were born.
They lived in Kentucky for several years and then in Springfield, Missouri before moving back to Seymour.
Barbara was a graduate of Seymour High School in the Class of l955 and was currently the Vice-President of the Seymour Alumni Association. She had worked for The Seymour Bank as a teller and retired after working for almost twenty-four years. On January 2, 2000 she was united in marriage to Billy Dale Dickson and they had shared ten wonderful years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Curtis Woods; and a sister, Jacqueline Sue Teague.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; her four children, Jan George and her husband, Mike, of Marshfield, Missouri, Paula Crump, of Seymour, Missouri, Doug Crump and his wife, Gayla, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Julie Box and her husband, Allen, of Seymour, Missouri; three step-children, Greg Dickson and his wife, Bridgette, of Rogersville, Missouri, Teresa Dickson, of Seymour, Missouri, and Tammy Barlow, of Fordland, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Michala, Jeff, Graham, Benji, Matt, Ashley, Brittany, Chad, and Tyler; five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and was a member of the Diggins Baptist Church and had taught the Adult Sunday School Class for some time.
Barbara was very interested in the Seymour Library and served on the board for several years. She was a member of the Seymour Homemakers Club and enjoyed the time she spent with her friends. She had worked in helping to raise funds and served on the board for the Alumni YMCA Pool Project. She was very involved with the Seymour Historical Society, and loved working and visiting with friends at the Annual Seymour Apple Festival.
She had fought a long and courageous battle against cancer, and with her strong faith in God and a positive attitude she had won that battle. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and doing family genealogy. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the precious memories she created for her family and friends.
Services are 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 in Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Seymour, with burial in Seymour Masonic
Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral home of Seymour.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home.
