Barbara Dunker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Barbara Ann Dunker was born to Raymond and Goldie Smith Walters on February 2, 1945 in Lebanon, Missouri. She passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 in her home. She was eighty-one years, three months and fifteen days of age.
Barbara grew up in Lebanon and completed her schooling there. She moved to Kansas City and met Harold Lee Dunker at the Four Way Drive-In. On March 26, 1961, Barbara and Harold were united in marriage. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, family, and shared memories. Just three months ago, on February 20, 2026, Barbara lost the love of her life and couldn’t wait to reunite with her beloved husband of nearly sixty-five years.
The couple lived in Kansas City for many years where Barbara was employed at the Ford plant. She retired at age fifty-five and they moved to Lebanon to spend their retirement years.
In addition to Harold, Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Goldie Walters; her granddaughter, Delilah Dunker; two sisters, Patty and Jeanie; and her brother, Raymond Walters.
She is survived by her four daughters, Ginger Dunker of Spring Hill, Kansas, Cynthia Chartier and her husband Michael of North Kansas City, Missouri, Diane Dunker and her husband Glen of Olathe, Kansas and Ruby Wheeler and her husband Perry of Blue Springs, Missouri; her son, Harold Dunker, Jr. of Texas, her grandchildren, Mike Wheeler, Joe Wheeler, Tyler Wheeler, Jessica Jarman, Kristina “Tina” Jarmen, Jennifer Jarman and Joey Jarman; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frieda Young and Faye Wdaves, both of Independence, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
Barbara was a born again Christian and was active at Community Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for several years and loved her heavenly father so much.
Barbara enjoyed fishing, gardening, antique shopping and garage sales. She also was fond of her four cats, Dummy, Smarty, Mommy Cat and Felicia, who was her favorite cat.
Most of all, Barbara loved her family. Throughout her life she was known for her unwavering dedication to her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her home was a haven of warmth, love and laughter, where countless memories were created and treasured.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Mount Rose Memorial Park. Friends may call at their convenience.
A memorial to Community Baptist Church has been established and donations may be left a the funeral home.
