Barbara Griffin (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Barbara June Griffin, daughter of Jessie Allen and Fern Ocene Potter Tadlock, was born January 25, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-three years, five months, and twenty-six days.
On November 7, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Griffin, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry, on April 1, 1991; a daughter, Tammie June Griffin Anderson Hogue; and a sister, Beulah Tadlock.
Barbara is survived by a son, Terry Griffin, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brandi, Alicia, Christian, Lance, Kyle and Morgan; a great-grandson, Memphis; three brothers, Charlie Tadlock, and his wife, Johnnie Mae, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Jim Tadlock, and his wife, Carol, of Warsaw, Missouri, and Larry Tadlock, and his wife, Debbie, of Tunas, Missouri; four sisters, Beverly Leatherman, and her husband, Jimmie, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Joan McGuire, and her husband, Dencil, of Lebanon, Missouri, Virginia Sousley, of Brookline, Missouri, and Shirley See, and her husband, Harold, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and then moved with her family to Lebanon when she was in the sixth grade. After she and Jerry were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Barbara earned her status as a Registered Nurse and worked at Breech Medical Center and Christian Health Care South for several years.
Barbara made her profession of faith in Christ at the Taylor Avenue Church of God and attended White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to gospel music, and watching soap operas, particularly Days of Our Lives. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
