Barbara Ivey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Barbara Helen Ivey, daughter of James C. and Rosemary A. Foley Madison, was born August 14, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this life Thursday, February 27, 2014, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, six months, and thirteen days.
On July 31, 1971, she was united in marriage to James E. Ivey, and they shared the last forty-two years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Graddy; and a sister, Linda Chick.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, James, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Ivey, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two stepsons, James K. Ivey, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Kevin Ivey, of Fair Grove, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Grace, Hannah, Luke, Kaleb, Trish, Bethany, Meagan, and Tyler; a brother, James Madison, and his wife, Trisha, of Bourbon, Missouri; three sisters, Darlene Parker, and her husband, John, of Washington, Missouri, Rosanne Shepherd, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Angel Monda, and her husband, Ron, of Cuba, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Bourbon, Missouri, and graduated from Bourbon High School. In 1971, she moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where she worked as a waitress for a short time. After she and James were married, they continued to live in Lebanon for awhile before moving to North Carolina, where they made their home for forty years. Barbara soon began a long career with the Avon Company, and loved her work intensely. She eventually became a Senior Executive leader and took great interest in the four hundred workers that she supervised. She was highly awarded for her work with Avon. In 2010, Barbara and James returned to Lebanon.
Barbara had made her profession of faith in Christ and was an active member of First Assembly of God in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed taking pictures and doing scrapbooking. She possessed a dynamic and unique personality and always uplifted those she met. She was an astute business woman and was an inspiration to all she encountered. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them through the years.
