Barbara Moody's Obituary
Barbara Faye Moody, daughter of Luther Farrell and Bessie Marie Johnston Moody, was born March 5, 1957 in Denver, Colorado. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 53 years, 6 months, and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and a very special aunt, Elsie Faye Johnston Larson. Barbara is survived by a brother, Walter (Ruth) Moody, of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Carol Simpson, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri and Janet Moody, of St. Louis, Missouri; three nephews Billy Simpson, Jeremy Simpson, and Cassidy Moody; three nieces Sarah Simpson, Mackenzie Moody, and Delaney Moody; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Barbara was born in Denver, Colorado and moved with her family two years later to St. Louis, Missouri where her dad had gotten a job with the Army Aviation Command. Barb graduated from Mehlville High School in St. Louis in 1975 and from Southwest Missouri State University of Springfield in 1980 with a degree in vocational Home Economics, one of the last to receive a lifetime teaching degree from Missouri. Barbara started to work in 1981 for the Army Aviation Command in St. Louis first in contract administration then as a quality assurance specialist on the Apache helicopter until 1998 when the command moved out of St. Louis. Barbara was able to go back into contracts as a contract specialist with the Department of Defense Contract Management Agency where she worked until she retired early with her sister Janet in October 2007. Barbara greatly enjoyed retired life the past three years. Barbara had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a devout Christian. She was a past Honored Queen of Bethel #3, Job?s Daughters in St. Louis, Missouri and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Venus Chapter #153, in St. Louis. Throughout the years, Barb was active in Camp Fire Girls and Girl Scouts. Barbara loved to piece quilts and she has made numerous quilts in her lifetime. She also enjoyed crafts, counted cross stitch, scrapbooking, cooking, genealogy, photography, computers, gardening, and growing roses. She made the most beautiful handcrafted Christmas cards and birthday cards every year to send out to family and friends. Family was very important to her and she especially loved her nieces and nephews. Barbara was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, and cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends will live on forever.
