Barbara L. Taylor (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Barbara Linn (Sears) Taylor passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Joplin, Missouri. In 1965, she married Elmer “Lee” Taylor, and together they built a life near Redtop, south of Buffalo, Missouri, where they farmed for several years. She will be remembered as a caring, kind, intelligent, and—yes—stubborn woman with the most wonderful, infectious laugh. She loved playing cards, cheering on her football teams, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Barbara also had a keen interest in politics and a sharp eye on current events. She often worried about the world her children and grandchildren would inherit, but never lost faith in their ability to make it better. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she wanted nothing more than the best for them always. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Myra and Ruth Sears, as well as her four sisters: Myra Jane, Patricia, Julia, and Nancy. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Elmer “Lee” Taylor; their five children, Marty, Jodie, Shelly and her husband, Craig, Mark and his wife, Stacy, and Nicki and her husband, Frank; her grandchildren, Matthew, Sammi, Daren, Evan, Madeline, Darwin, Jacob, Alex, and Sarah, who were each close to her heart; and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Amelia, Ollie, Genevieve, and Murphy brought her smiles and laughter right up until her final days. We imagine her now in heaven, playing cards and laughing with her sisters just as she did in life. Heaven is lucky to have you, Barbara.
Celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, with visitation from 10 am - 11 am, with formal service beginning at 11 am at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri.
