Beatrice Ellis (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Beatrice (Bea) Ellis, 88 passed away on Thursday February 2, 2017 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born on February 28, 1928 in Stockton, Missouri to Robert and Lula (King) Phillips
She graduated from high school in San Diego, California.
Bea married Robert Farmer on February 9, 1947 in San Diego, California. They were married for 7 years then later divorced. She later met and married Evert (Red) Ellis in Reno, Nevada on March 28, 1958. They were married 26 years prior to his passing in 1984.
Bea was a member of Lions Club International where she served in many offices including club president. She enjoyed jig saw puzzles, crocheting and working in her yard. She also served as a Democratic Representative for the state of Missouri.
In 1972 Red & Bea bought and ran the Apco Station in Dunnegan, Mo. Even though they closed each evening at 6pm all you had to do was knock and they would open back up. During the winter months as Bea was a “late owl” the State Highway workers always knew there was coffee on and they were welcome to stop in while working long nights during the winter. They sold the station in 1983. She later retired from the housekeeping department of South West Baptist University in 1998 and then from Wal-Mart as a door greeter in 2009.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Lula. a daughter Dee Ann Farmer and her husband Red.
Bea is survived by her son’s Robert Farmer & wife Caterina of Sterling MA., Wally Ellis of Fair Play Mo., and daughter’s Delores Doughty of DeLeon, TX, Lori Ellis of New Tazewell, TN and Susan & husband Alan Lotz of Edna, KS. Ten grandchildren Earl, George, Dee Ann, Daniel, Tommy, Cynthia, Robert, Ginger, Lloyd & Triston plus many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Emery & wife Shirley Phillips of Pinole, Ca.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Butler Funeral Home, E. Buffalo St, Humansville, Mo at 1pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 where family will be greeting friends and relatives. As per her wishes cremation will take place after the memorial service and burial will take place at a later date at Alder Cemetery.
