He departed this life Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, ten months and fifteen days. On August 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Edna Louise Adkins, and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Louise, on March 27, 2005, a great-grandson, Braden Wyatt Lees, four brothers, Jesse, Cecil, Herb and Lugene Shropshire; and two sisters, Bertie and Bertha. He lived his entire life in Wright County. Born southeast of Hartville and later to a farm on Whetstone, his father traded the farm for the family farm on which he lived throughout the years, where he lovingly raised his family. Over the years his farming enterprise included dairying, hauling milk, lime and rake teeth, raising broiler chickens, turkeys and beef cattle. One of his greatest passions was working with Quarter Horses. Berlin had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Hartville First Baptist Church and was attending the Wolf Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He had served on the Boards of Soil and Water, FSA, Gasconade Township, as a MFA Oil Company Delegate and was a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau. He was a devoted family man and loved taking them on trips west to the mountains and to the west coast. Berlin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will cherish the wonderful memories he created for his family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 2, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville. Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery.
