Bernita Amos (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Bernita Lee Evans Amos, daughter of Bertis Lee and Lola Winfrey Evans, was born on October 15, 1927, in Richland, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, September 25, 2017, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months, and ten days.
On September 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard “Murel” Amos, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Murel, on September 26, 2008; a brother, Harold D. Evans; and a sister, Alice Evans.
Bernita is survived by a daughter, Mary Alice Amos, of Lebanon, Missouri; several cousins; friends; and special friends.
She was born and raised in the Richland community, and lived most of her life in that area. After graduating from high school, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Baptist University. She was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also taught school in Camden and Laclede Counties for many years. Later, she and Murel moved into Lebanon and made her home. Bernita was a devoted caregiver to her daughter and centered her life around Mary.
Bernita had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Berean Baptist Church for many years. After moving to Lebanon, she attended to the Second Baptist Church. She was very active in her church throughout the years.
She enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers. Bernita spent most of her time making sure her daughter, was well taken care of in every way and Mary Alice was the light of her life.
Bernita was a loving mother, cousin and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories she made for them during her lifetime.
A memorial has been established to the Gideon Bible Ministry.
