Bertha "Bernice" Bogart (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Bertha Bernice Bogart, daughter of Ernie and Anna Duke Todd, was born August 17, 1928 in Rayborn, Missouri and departed this life on October 5, 2017 in Heart of the Ozarks Center in Ava, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, one month and twenty-eight days.
In April of 1948, she was united in marriage to Harry E. Bogart and to this union three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Roger Lee Bogart, brother, Donald Todd, two nephews, Rick Fry and John L. Todd.
Bernice is survived by two sons, Harry Ray Bogart and wife, Jane, of Foristell, Missouri and Larry Gene Bogart and wife, Jeannie, of Mansfield, Missouri; two brothers, Clarell Todd and Tommy Todd; sister, Carlene Fry; four grandchildren, Eric Lee Bogart, Andrea Kathleen Bogart, Wendy Herrell and Mike Bogart; nine great-grandchildren, Rashawnda Sullivan ,Nathan Bogart, Shay Jackson, Carly Bogart, Taylor Bogart, Calista Bogart, Derek Herrell, Anna Bogart and Camryn Bogart; five great-great grandchildren, Mallory Sullivan, Mylee Sullivan, Weston Sullivan, Georgia Bogart and Emerie Almas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bernice was born in Rayborn and raised in the Green Mountain area. She graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in the Class of 1946. She earned her Bachelors’ degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University. In 1947, she taught school at the Astoria country school. In 1950, the family moved to Mansfield and she started working at Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in 1960 and retired from there in 1993. Although, she had worked at different jobs, she was a “Farm Girl” and raised cattle from 1951 through 2013 until her health wouldn’t permit it anymore.
Bernice had made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist church.
She had no hobbies as most do, she was too busy raising her family and working. But, she was always willing to help her loved ones anytime she was needed.
Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-
grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life
and accomplishments and will cherish the many special times we had together.
