Bertha J Cumins (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Bertha Jane Cumins, daughter of William R. and Stella Jane Chastain Dismang, was born October 14, 1925, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, May 14, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, and seven months.
Early in her life she was united in marriage to Lonnie Garroutte, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Garroutte; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Bertha is survived by a daughter, Paulette Stidham, and her husband, Ken, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, David Garroutte, of Lebanon, Missouri, Dick Garroutte, of Grovespring, Missouri, and Terry Cumins, and his wife, Beth, of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Garroutte, of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised near Lebanon, in Laclede County, Missouri. She made her home for many years, in the Bennett Spring area. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Bertha also worked as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company for several years.
Bertha had attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed working puzzles, watching television, particularly her favorite game show, The Price Is Right, and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. In her younger years, she liked to go squirrel hunting. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
