Bertha Turley's Obituary
Bertha Pauline Turley, daughter of Wilburn Oscar and Nancy Meg Nola (Newberry) Barlett, was born August 10, 1929, in Douglas County, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, ten months, and ten days.
On May 5, 1949 she was united in marriage to James Richard Turley and to this union two daughters and six sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on June 10, 1994; a daughter, June Calhoun; a son, Willard Turley; a grandson, Cecil Rex Calhoun; two granddaughters, Barbara Pauline and Juanita Darlene; seven brothers, Dalton, David, Billy, Luther, Pat, Bob and Freddie Barlett; and two sisters, Anna Carr and Dottie Paschal.
Bertha is survived by a daughter, Joanne Murray, and her husband, Bruce, of Russellville, Missouri; five sons, James C. Turley, and his wife, Ellen, of Manes, Missouri, Paul K. Turley, and his wife, Ginny, and Carl R. Turley, and his wife, Kay, all of Mansfield, Missouri, Bobby L. Turley, and his wife, Angie, of Ava, Missouri, and Richard D. Turley, and his wife, Syrena, of Hartville, Missouri; thirty grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Hicks, of Norwood, Missouri, and Zola McGinnis, of Nills, South Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was born and raised near Ava and soon after she met and married James they moved to Mansfield. She worked many years as a Certified Nurses Aide.
Bertha had made her profession of belief in Christ and was of the Pentecostal faith.
In her spare time she enjoyed making beautiful quilts, sewing, and also loved playing bingo.
Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel, in Mansfield, Missouri with burial in Prairie Hollow Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
