She departed this earthly life the evening of Monday, December 2, 2019, at Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora, Missouri, from complications with Alzheimer's and dementia. Bessie was eighty-five years, two months and eighteen days of age.
One of twelve children, she was born Bessie Irene Manar and was raised in the Seymour area and attended Seymour schools. Bessie was a dedicated mother and homemaker who was most content at home with husband and family. She also worked outside the home, retiring from H.D. Lee after ten-plus years and the plant closing. Bessie was of the Baptist faith and attended various churches over the years. She loved taking walks, attending auctions and yard sales, and having them too. In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Sanders; Lloyd Glen ‘Bo’ Dickson, with whom she shared forty-one happy years; a stepdaughter, Kathy Webb; and seven siblings, David, Barbara, Jim, Jerry, Anna Mae, Lendon and Betty. Bessie is survived by five children, Ronald and Pamela Street, Jimmy and Delphine Street, Gerald and Phung Street, Perry and Elizabeth Street, and JoAnn and Ralph Wormington; three stepchildren, Ronald and Pamela Dickson, Richard and Sandy Dickson, and Virginia and Tony Truitt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, George, Bert, Sandra, and Connie; and many more extended family and dear friends. Bessie truly enjoyed life and treasured her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, a fun-loving ‘Nanny’ and great-grandmother, a caring sister and loyal friend. Her life has left a legacy and countless memories that will be treasured. Bessie will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bessie's honor made to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated and can be left at the funeral home or by visiting alz.org.
